I like Mission Breakout quite a bit more than the DCA version of ToT, which was vastly inferior to the WDW and Tokyo versions. If there was no history to the ride, and you just put these 2 rides side by side and asked patrons to be the judge, I’m guessing at least 75% would choose Guardians. It’s just more fun, more going on and more exciting. The queue, the Rocket pre-show. It’s just better.
I can’t velieve we are back to the constant DCA sucks years again. 90% of the posts on here are Disney sucks, DCA sucks..........
Get a new schtick or say something different or refreshing for a change. It’s boring and cliche by now.

BOOOO, IT SUCKS.

😒🙄

Anyways... While the actually ride itself is fun, Guardians loses the majority of its credibility for me for its lack of proper placement/theming and the fact that it’s an overlay.

Correction: some effort was put into the first half of the queue. The second half of the queue (after the preshow) is just the ToT boiler room with some paint.
Even the first half is just clearly the lobby with everything stripped down and covered. You can still see where the fireplace was. They just boarded it up.

Some cosplayer is taking Chris Pratt, a tree, a talking raccoon, a green lady and red man hostage? We're riding in an elevator to help.. why? They're playing decades old music in the elevator.. why?

As far as I know, GotG is mixed in with the Avengers universe thing. So why couldn't another hero.. you know.. do things and help?

I've heard the term "neon house" for HMH.. but Fission: Warehouse Fortress Powerplant doesn't count huh?

For me, MB has always been a lateral move and a mixed bag. The Q has good theming and details, but so did ToT. The GotG on screens I can take or leave. But I like the different ride profiles for different songs much more than the same-old for ToT. And, of course, you have the hideous exterior of MB.

I've often said if ToT had to be switched to Marvel, the better fit would be Dr. Strange. He lives in a creepy mansion so drastic exterior changes to ToT wouldn't have been needed. Plus the character lends itself to a 'falling through the dimensions' attraction story that would have fit better.

I preferred the updated Towers to the original. The DCA version was such an improvement from a storytelling perspective alone.

As for Mission BO, its not fun to me. It feels like Disney is shaking me up and down yelling "ISN'T THIS SO MUCH FUN????" No, its just kind of annoying and lacks any emotional stakes or narrative structure. Tower had Act 1 end in the Library, Act 2's midpoint was getting on the Elevator, and Act 3 begins when the ghosts vanish and we drop. It felt like we went through a story. We watch our reflections vanish as we are pulled from reality and possibly lost forever in this metaphysical purgatory. At the end, the doors open to reveal the same shaft and same Bellhop, playing into the classic psychological horror of "was any of that real, or was it all in my head." The return to normalcy was brilliant.

With Mission BO, Act 1 ends in the Office, same as before, but the queue area afterwards loses its dramatic push. Before we were exploring a haunted hotel and approaching an elevator to another dimension despite all warnings. We were going deeper down the rabit hole. With Mission BO, we are waiting in a warehouse to actually get onto the elevator so we can help Rocket. There's no tension or dread, because there are no stakes. Once we get into the lift, the story begins again, but its over as soon as it begins. We allow Rocket access to the power room and our job is done. Mayhem breaks out, but we don't help solve. Actually, nobody solves it. Space monsters attack the heroes and then...they just kind of stop being a threat when the ride's ready to end.

Then there are the numerous issues with the shoehorning of the ride. Why does this touring museum have guests travel through a private office and into a busted up backroom to see their prized exhibit? Is the video in the lobby recorded or is it a live feed? Either answer creates more problems. Why do guests have access to the power supply for the entire museum? How does Rocket shut down the power so quickly and invisibly? Why set up they are dangling above a chasm of death if they can so easily jump over it?

I'd be interested to know how the ride would have worked with the original plan to enclose the top doorways.

Come on, guys. Let's not get carried away with the "story" of Tower of Terror. Disney sure didn't. Some people went in an elevator and disappeared after a bolt of lightning struck the building...right. All the usual social commentary and shocking twists of The Twilight Zone are completely absent. It doesn't even really resemble the TV show despite various references.

Bottom line, it's a drop ride. No one is lining up for the plot here...

Yeah it’s never been good as Twilight Zone ride, but the theme of a haunted Hollywood hotel is great.

Yeah, they just did the overlay too soon. Doctor Strange opened slightly after GOTG:MB did. This is a case of one department not talking to another department. It would have been huge synergy for Disney. Watch them turn WDS Paris Tower into a Doctor Strange ride.

I did. My former co-worker loved coasters and thrill rides but would always get panic attacks in the queue for TOT. Why...the story effected her.

Aren’t they stripping Tower of Terror at WDS of Twilight Zone references? Or is that no longer on the agenda? Also WDS is getting its own Marvel land separate from Tower and they need Tower even more than we do so I don’t think it’ll be removed anytime soon.
