From the park's blog:

During “Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off!Star-Lord and Gamora return to the Collector’s Fortress to retrieve a special artifact … Star-Lord’s precious boom box. Looking to avoid discovery, they ignite a lively party vibe, enlisting everyone gathered around to help out and show off your favorite dance moves in a rockin’ Dance Off.

And for the first time on Terra (that’s Earth to you and me) you’ll encounter the one-and-only Groot. He arrives on the scene just as the Dance Off is wrapping up, but is happy to stay for a while and visit with everyone as Star-Lord and Gamora make their escape.

Summer of Heroes also brings more excitement across Hollywood Land, including the Avengers Training Initiative featuring Black Widow and Hawkeye and heroic encounters with Black Widow, Captain America and your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. This summer is going to be epic!

The dance off should be nice and awkward to everyone in the vicinity.

Much like the people in the background.

It's basically just a standard uplighting wash with some projections mixed in. I was expecting the lighting to be integrated into the structure in a creative way. I'm going to assume this isn't the final display we'll see when the ride opens.

i was hoping for the same thing, all those added spires and props would have looked great with their own lighting package making them look like electricity was running thru them. I'm also surprise they don't take advantage of the large animation building to add a hidden projector on the roof that could occasionally project some stuff unto the tower facade.

Actually they should have done that prior, how awesome would it have been if they had projected the lightning and dropping elevator in the late evenings

As I said in a previous post this is not the final lighting package. This is just accent lighting until the opening. Why would they display everything before opening? That would ruin the surprise.

Here is a video of some of the testing of the building lights. Notice there are lights in some of the small pieces as well as the dome on top of the building:

This was just one that I saw, others I've seen show the pipes lit up. So the lighting on GotG is going to be as much a part of the show as the inside.

What surprise? Turning on the lighting of an attraction before it opens/while under construction is normal and has been done before.

The guy on the left (who is the main hero I take it?) looks far more realistic than the twinky wig kid with the fake mustache they are using at WDW. If Disneyland can pick a guy who has an actual heterosexual vibe, instead of the actors trying to act heterosexual they often get, this might work out just fine.

The tree guy is odd. The green lady looks like she doesn't want to be there, but maybe that's the way she's supposed to be.

Live action face characters are tough to pull off, especially when someone famous has portrayed the character. After all, this guy doesn't look much like Chris Pratt and the Black Widow and Hawkeye coming this summer won't look much like Scar-Jo or Renner. At least Gamora has the green make-up and Thor had the long hair and beard to obscure the CM's features.
