A few thoughts from an East coaster:

If you would have told me in 2011 that Disney would be building a Marvel Ride and an Avatar Land to open the same year, and that the latter would be a sleeper hit and the former would be a trainwreck of baffling proportions, I would've laughed in your face.

If the previews are pushed back/cancelled because they're still working, y'all are about to have a real interesting summer. Frozen Ever After was the same way, and it didn't work properly for months.

The outside really doesn't look half bad next to the unfinished Hyperion and blank soundstage, but it would absolutely destroy the placemaking in Hollywood Studios.

Disney's lack of faith in franchises continues to amaze as the new movie smashes through the box office. And to think that they could have reaped the rewards of synergy with movie #2 without backlash (on both coasts) had they started on a purpose built attraction when the first movie smashed through the box office.

I actually kind of dig the entrance area to the ride. I still don't like this overlay.

LOL, thanks. You know, I've been feelin some kinda way. That and I started posting the same way I would talk in real life. Sometimes I think we can "code switch" subconsciously depending on the forum or who we are talking to.

Oh I always talk like my real self here. That's probably why I have so many enemies on this site haha.

They're clipped to the ground, I groped one of them and they don't feel like a touch point. Its going to be a bar code scanner, I even saw the laser, sucks.. Hopefully they made it so they could easily change it to a touch point in the future.

You guys may have seen these. These were what they used for testing...

Is this what it felt like? Either with or without the metal thing below?
I certainly hope the real ones look much better and less confusing.

idk when i was "feeling it" it didnt seem that wide, it felt pretty skinny. almost like those somewhat skinny rectangle soap dispensers. i could be wrong, it was a quick feel.

you know what would be cool? ditch the lighting and have projections make it 100000x better. i think they could do some pretty cool stuff on that with projection at night. i think the ride is going to be awesome, but this lighting is crap, totally just masks the beautiful colors with green. projection could make things such as the pipes or even the triangle symbol pop out more. hopefully they're not done with the lighting.

I just don't know why Disney would want a bar code scanner because they're sometimes slow if the person doesn't put it under the laser right. ESPECIALLY if they let you store your fast passes on the phone, half the time I forget to turn the brightness up or the app would randomly close and log you out . Still not sure why magic bands are not a thing here, I've heard so many good things about it over at WDW.

Don't barcodes have to be oriented correctly to be read? Also barcodes can't read multiple units in a grouping the way that RFID tags and mobile apps can. In other word Disney has the ability to "track" guests in the parks via a mobile app or RFID chip but not via barcodes.

I'm not sure. Just imagine people forgetting to have their fast pass ready on their phone, phone accidentally turning off, phone dimming automatically, and sometimes the app will even log you out. It's going to be terrible when they allow you to have fast passes on your phone, fast pass line will take forever to get into and probably cause back ups into the walk ways.

I like the open space that the WDW touch points provide, it would help in a crowded park like Disneyland to make more room for people and also makes the line way faster. I'm all for magic bands coming here, if you're here for one day you should get a alternative option to the magic band like maybe a cheaper band or bracelet with a RFID chip. This is a missed opportunity for Disney, especially with that money milking executive (that one guy everyone on here bashes, forgot his name sorry, bob chapek or something?), not only would people be paying money for Max pass if they wanted, magic bands and their little accessories that they sell now could make a lot of money.

DLR is mostly a locals park. Right now there is more locals than tourists. In the future that might be different but as of now it is the way it is.

As such using MagicBands with locals doesn't make sense because there is little to monetize around. No hotel room to tie charges back to, etc. So most of the system is useless at DLR.

Also WDW is the only resort to use them, no other resort will be getting them as they are going away from them. Shanghai Disneyland is also using the app and not the bands.
