Huh? That isn't a theme, that's a collection of different themes.

That is the theme. That's Disneylands theme. A collection of themes in a magical kingdom. So are you saying Disneyland. Pretty much the worlds first THEME park, doesn't have a theme?

If you wanna talk about theme... what the heck are they doing with Marvel Land? So we have this Alien tower in NY with a Trolley going by .. and the theme isn't being watered down? Not saying the rides won't be fun (except for Iron Man, the Hong Kong version looks pretty bad). Not saying the majority of people will care. But I don't think anyone can make a reasonable argument that they re pretty much throwing theme to the wind in favor of Synergy.

Marvel likes to use (mostly) real world cities. The West Coast Avengers are located in Los Angeles. So, you can re-create a Californian city-scape in DCA for Marvel Super Hero Land.

Wish they would do this instead of NY and keep the name as it's unique and not generic. Of course that Alien Tower will stick out no matter what "city" it resides in.

Why can't DCA be a collection of themes too?

It can be. It just wouldn't be unique and judging by the Alien tower in Hollywood/ NY/ Marvel Land it wouldn't be done nearly as effectively as DL. The CALIFORNIA adventure theme had a lot of promise after the 2012 updates, followed by the update to Condor Flats and now they are just watering everything down.

Well, thank-you for your opinion.

Is that an opinion you disagree with? If so, why?

It is an opinion being made over and over again. I'm acknowledging I heard it so it doesn't have to be repeated again. Not every disagreement has to go on for pages with both sides continuously re-asserting their side.

Thank you. Notice how my posts are usually well thought out and sincere but most responses I receive are usually questions or one sentence answers just trying to get a rise out of me and others.

See above. Once sentence replies aren't necessarily designed to goad you. I expressed my opinion and... I'm done. I don't have to keep coming back after you to get you to agree with me.

Sorry, I wasn't ONLY referring to you. People are responding and asking me questions. Shall I ignore them? I guess I should because I'm over here with arthritis in my thumb and all I get are folks who secretely agree with what I'm saying playing devils advocate. Lol

DCA can be, but that's both a very different direction for the park and different from what Disney has done in the past with most of their parks. The move towards that model is one of the things that people are generally critical of.
I imagine they wish they could have DCA to do all over again as the California theming is very limiting especially considering the desire to put more IP in the parks. Even if they never put another IP attraction in the parks, trying to come up with California themed expansions would be a challenge too.

The California theme isn't particularly limiting. The perception that it was (is) comes from the poor way the park was executed. If the theme is "recreations of California landmarks" - it's no mystery why that doesn't work. If the theme is "the myth of California", DCA still doesn't approach exhausting that theme.

None of the IP-based additions to the park that have been built or are rumored need to abandon the California theme, either.

Good point. I suppose for all we know they have no plans on abandoning the California theme. If they did, what would they do with all the CA stuff that's currently there? Seems like either way would be awkward.
