Walt breathed on that fence work you know.I know a guy that won't step foot into Disneyland anymore because they changed the fence work on the castle's drawbridge a couple of years ago. He is struggling with some mental issues.
I'm sure it'll do well, but I do believe the general public will eventually burn-out on the whole Superhero film genre -- at least in its current form--due to sheer oversaturation. Probably just in time for the grand opening of DCA's Marvelicious Avenue or whatever they end up calling it. I'm looking forward to hearing more about their plans for the area. Hopefully it'll be clever and fun even if the films wear out their welcome. I have to say, though, the out-of-context present design of "Breakout" (which would be more fun if it were based on the old Atari game) has me just a teensy bit worried...I haven't commented on this, but it's safe to say I'm not a fan of the plan. Wonder how they'll integrate all the Marvel stuff together. At this point, just gotta hope for the best. Disney is really banking on GOTG 2 being a big success as well. I tend to believe it will be.
One particularly gee'd up poster on Mice Chat is trying to drum up support for a protest outside of ToT (sorry-Mission: BREAKOUT!). Save The Tower t-shirts, leaflets, picketing--the works.
The phrases "escorted from the property" and "AP revoked" come to mind.
Disney will probably get some security dressed as Cap and Spidey to Taser them and drag them away.I so want some of these people to chain themselves to the Tower. If someone does threaten, let us know. I want to be there.

My question is did Disney expect this sort of negative response? I'm sure they did from most of us Park enthusiasts but the response has been overwhelmingly negative on Social media. I would assume they were expecting a better response than this? Are they that out of touch with their fans? Or do they just need to get Marvel in the parks ASAP and don't care how?
Just now on KTLA 5, (LA news station) they brought up the GOTG takeover and started the piece by saying "Disneyland fans are not happy..." IMO opinion this is different from the SWL announcement. That announcement was met with very positive reactions from the general public. I never saw any negative press with the SWL announcement. Which is simply because nobody lost a fan favorite attraction in the process.
Did they turn on the "It's a small world" music when the story was being run? That is what they usually do when crazies make the news. Every time they do an UFO story, they play the theme to the X-Files.My question is did Disney expect this sort of negative response? Hopefully Disney ignores these people. I get being bothered, but when your mania becomes a local news story you may want to consider taking it down a notch.
Why should they if it's something that your audience clearly doesn't want?
I am just having trouble understanding why adding a super hero area to DCA is a no-go for some. Is it because it is IP that was bought and is "unoriginal". Is it because they don't feel like Disney can transition properly from a Hollywood themed area into a super hero themed area right next door? Is it because this moves DCA away from its overall theme (or what is left of it)? Or all of the above?
Because the Comicon crowd represents a teensy-tiny itty-bitty fraction of DL's customer base. Most people will adore Marvel in DCA. Most current guests have no clue what the Twilight Zone is and, even if they've ridden the tower, couldn't tell you the "story" for a million dollars. Why should they if it's something that your audience clearly doesn't want?
Everyone laughs but the last save Disney campaign with shirts and such arguably worked...

So the general public should take it down a notch?
This is not the general public. According to what you posted the introduction to the news story was "Disneyland fans are not happy...".
