Do you guys really think the visible section is completed? There's a lot of ornamentation missing that we saw in the artwork.

That's my assumption based strictly on the fact that they've taken down the scaffolding surrounding it. It would be very hard for me to understand why they'd go to all that trouble if they still had excess pipes, space junk, and frills to add. But that's just me.

Remember when they painted the BV Street bridge and then repainted it a few weeks later? They did something similar with the stage/mill for Fantasmic recently too. Perhaps they removed the scaffolding on MB temporarily to have a look at it before finishing?

Could be! Personally, my issues aren't with the color scheme per se, just that the general aesthetic is about as gross as I expected.

I don't remember that refurb, but I'm sure it's not beyond Disney to need to see what they've done so far and then realize they have to fix it. I just don't see that being the case here.

As for it lacking the ornamentation of the concept art, there lies the double edged sword of such artwork. No matter how hard they try, it will still feel like it's lacking something.

Let's not forget, this is a rushed overlay. I'm sure they're far more concerned with making sure the inside will be done right. The exterior will probably just be "that'll do".

Is it? Disney paid $4 billion for Marvel, and ToT was a very popular attraction. Why would Disney risk screwing up its first US Marvel themed attraction by rushing it? Of course I was the one cheering the discontinuation of AP payment plans, so what do I know? lol

It is rushed, we know that. Greenlit last year around this time, plans finalized by June/July, pre-fab work through Dec, and Jan-May to install and test. 18 months for an E Ticket is rushed.

Disney isn't worried as they know lines will be around the corner for the first year. The ride also has an enjoyable ride system, so even if the new stuff bombs, they know the ride will still draw for years to come. If the ride burns out in 5-10 years, they can retheme it again or level it for a new attraction. They didn't invest a ton of money into this new ride, so its almost guaranteed to ne a success in their eyes.

Actually, looking at it closer, it isn't as different from the concept art and model as I thought it was.

One slight difference is the decorative trim stretching horizontally across the top. In that model, there is a "cut out" section in front of the rest, which remains the old ToT style. In recent photos, that whole strip is painted with the GOTG design.

As for the rest, it looks pretty much the same. In photos you can see they've installed some supports for brackets which will hold more pipes, and their positioning lines up with the model. I imagine they'll stick the big Tivan emblem on later, but I'm not as sure about those spires.

What does it say about Disney that they sat on creating a Marvel attraction until 2016? They have owned Marvel since 2009. In ALL that time, the best they could come up with for "the first US Marvel attraction" is this overlay? Especially given the larger success of the Avengers? That kinda stinks a bit. And no, I'm not counting Superhero HQ or M&G's as anything.

All that to say, as ProfessorTango1 pointed out, they really didn't give themselves that much time on this one. Less than a year between construction beginning and completion. Just seems like they could have put a bit more thought into it, and we're starting to see the realization of it all.
