Actually, looking at it closer, it isn't as different from the concept art and model as I thought it was.

Forgive me if someone else has said this, but this reminds me of the metallic airbrush finishes in Tomorrowland '98. But probably no edible vegetation.

If I were his/her boss, I would fire him/her and do everything in my power to destroy his/her career and make sure he/she never gets a job in the themed entertainment industry again.

You know, the more I think about this the less I blame Chapek and the more I blame the fact their wasn't one imagineer with enough clout and creativity to come up with a better idea and stop this from happening. Chapek was right, after 7 years their should have been a Marvel attraction somewhere in the park. But this wasn't the way to go about it. Don't get me wrong, I realize that Chapek giving the requirement that they had to use existing infrastructure is a big reason they ended up choosing to Overlay TOT but surely, their had to be a better way.

This was poor planning from Disneyland all around.

If I was in charge, Tower would've stayed and just got random sequence updates. Star Wars Land should've been put in DCA. That would've really balanced crowds between the parks. If they had to have Guardians at the DL resort, I would've replaced Star Tours with it.
That's why you aren't in charge. I cant wait for the new awesome experience in TOT, I mean Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout

I would have eventually fired those who came up with this idea. Those who proposed SWL in DL would have been fired on the spot.

I think Disney overall needs an entirely new team of thinkers.

Which is why the Marvel acquisition was an idiotic idea from the start.

Disney is more than WDW. Much, much more.

The marvel acquisition was 100% Iger's best move as CEO. Full stop. Pixar probably would have happened regardless of the successor and Lucasfilm a long established relationship with George.

But Marvel was extremely well timed, came with some amazing talent and really helped bring balance to Disney's property demographics. Plus the studio bottom line.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. Disney shouldn't ditch Pooh because it unsuccessfully replaced an attraction.

I hope the ride is an abject failure. That might be the only thing that saves all the other classic non-IP attractions in the parks from being redone into the IP du jour.

It was bought at a bargain price in my opinion.

One mistake I see a lot of people making is "they've enclosed the dropshafts." And I think I understand why. With TOT, the giant Hollywood Tower Hotel signage dominated the upper portion, bringing the eye up the drop shafts and having them rest up high. Your mind was tricked to think the ride portion was taller than it was. With this new design, the huge amount of empty space almost accents how low those doors are in the facade. It's a huge chunk of open space and your eye doesn't really have a focal point.

Another unfortunate side effect of shoehorning a ride into a building that was very specifically designed for another concept.

Why not have him murdered? Why stop at taking away someone's livelihood?

Makes me wonder how long it would take for them to run the company into financial ruin if they were in charge.

Measured in months? Days? Hours? Not minutes. Probably.
