We did Virtual Queue a few weeks ago and my wife and son still had to wait until 5 pm for our call time after it moved up from 6 and then they waited an hour and twenty five minutes once inside. The concept of virtual queue failed for me on that day.
It was weird and the longest we have ever waited. We waited a top of fifteen minutes in the past in the summer. No downtime was mentioned or reported. Perhaps an influx of lightning lane or something. Then when we switched so I could ride with him for my wife to watch our daughter who is not of height, lightning lane was not long.

Right already explained that a friend there was convinced of ulterior motives of Disney and that fall break does not exist here (end of term but no real time off) so wasn't sure if crowds were bad or not. Our anniversary falls the week prior was the best I had, but with a teen we no longer pull from school. I think friend was blind to crowds.

Wait. What if I end up getting a BG during the CLP show time? Am I able to go to GS to see about having the BG time amended?
Also, do they still do a "second drop" at like 7:15am? I'm really worried that we won't get to ride this.

You can technically redeem your BG anytime after it's called. So if it's called during the Candlelight Processional, you can go to CR after it, despite already after the 1 hour window originally given.
There are only two Virtual Queue drops, at 7am and 1pm ET. The 7:15am thing you may be referring to ILL refills? But usually ILL is available for at least an hour after 7am, so I would recommend trying VQ first.
