So…if I’m going to be there for a single day after Christmas just don’t even try? Ha!
I was at Epcot for Christmas Eve last year when Rat still had its VQ. The morning drop was open for about half a minute. Christmas day it was open for 2 mins.

Rat of course has a lower capacity then GOTG (I think), so technically the windows should be open longer. Of course this ignores other factors like demand, restrictions at time, etc.

Are the parks that busy or are they offering less free BGs?

I know it was busy when we went in June but I hadn't seen numbers like that in ages.
Parks seem to be really busy. Just looking at these numbers the past two weeks, it would indicate they're the busiest they have been sine the ride opened in May!

Just asking because a friend was convinced Disney offered less free rides to make more money. Was wondering if crowds are that high since numbers for BGs are low. We never have fall break so wasn't sure if that's now and causing it?

The rise in times to grab a VQ coincided with the deadest time of the year for WDW.

The fall in times to grab a VQ coincided with one of the busiest weeks in the Fall thanks to the Columbus three day weekend. I learned long ago that if I wanted a Disney Resort room that week (because my traveling buddy was only free at the beginning of months due to his work), that I had to grab a reservation a year in advance for the first weeks in October.

So, we basically have a feel of the 'tipping point' for GotG:CR. Those supposing that the VQ would be dropped in favor of Standby were basing that on the low-attendance Aug/Sep crowds. It's clear that on high-attendance times, the VQ is still needed.

Or of course they could go the route of Hagrids. But Bosh wouldn’t get their bonus.

It seems more likely now that Disney held out to see how this holiday season will fare out, which is now through New Years.

So now if Disney is actually following a similar timeline to Rat, not in terms of length but in terms of time of year, we should expect sometime in January for CR's VQ to be dropped and switched to standby.

I think the evidence shows it's only potentially needed on the absolute busiest days -- it had been relatively easy to obtain since shortly after the ride opened until the last couple of weeks; it wasn't solely a August/September phenomenon.

Although really that just shows it actually fills up on the busiest days. There are probably 10-15 rides that would run out of VQs in seconds if Disney offered them at the busiest times of the year. The park would be much better for guests if people had to wait standby instead of crowding the rest of the park while waiting for their return time.
