Because of the different appearance of the hotel in the ToT preshow, as a kid I was absolutely convinced that that was a real episode and Disney simply just didn't get the look of the building quite right.

A few other things about the hotel's layout don't make any sense. Even if the sign was higher up as it should be, those hotel wings that disappeared would be extremely tiny.

The fake elevator doors you see in the lobby would actually go nowhere. Although they are supposed to represent the main elevator shafts in which the incident took place and where the drop sequence takes place, from outside you can see that there is nothing above the lobby. Inside the left library ("Echo"), and before it, there are fake windows.
You must be a blast at parties.

I'm sorry, were we not talking about that exact topic? That the design of the ToT building doesn't make total logical sense?

Try saying that on Micechat, they're still so butt hurt over their tower changing that if you mention anything remotely detrimental about it they crucify you...

I personally love that little quick about it, fits right into the Twilight Zone. One of the thousands of reasons why it's my favorite Disney Ride.

The directional signs and closure sign are now gone. The signs at Innoventions East which pointed to UoE now point to Innoventions.

The construction walls have moved in to take over the exits. Soon it will claim all of Future World. From the monorail this time (hey, remember Test Track?)

Of note is that despite the exits being walled off, half of that pathway isn't. You can still walk down there and enjoy the wonder of construction walls.

Sure enough once we get to the end:

No idea why they're letting you go that far back. All that's back there is a door to enter the walled off area and a large gate. I guess it's neat?

They put up a fence + scrim to the right of the pavilion where construction walls aren't. Keeps pesky photographers away I think.

Only real change is that the planters are gone and the old sign saying it's a 45 minute ride with Ellen & Bill on the fountain planters was taken off. The post is still there but they got rid of the sign. I dunno why.

Even with a few mirrors missing, that building sure has some nice geometry.

On the plus side, the number of people in that area was only reduced by 7 when the ride closed.
