I was just thinking - "You know what Epcot needs? A nightly dance party!". Problem solved!

So... Where will the mobile cupcake cart go?

You are probably right that the negatives bother me more than the positives, they are usually louder you have to admit, and seem to repeat their view ad nauseum. I generally don’t like grumpy people that hate everything and people that think everything used to be better. This doesn’t come from me being a young pup either, I’ll be 50 this year. Don’t mistake this with me thinking the board should only be sunshine and rainbows. Not the case, but for those that hate absolutely everything they are adding no value to the discussion.

But I will also say the person that comes on here saying this is going to be the best ride in Orlando for sure, that is just as flawed as the opposite. And they seem to usually be a newbie and get ran off petty quickly.

But generally speaking, yes I prefer a nice puffy cloud over a dark cloud to rain on my parade.
It does sometimes appear a little odd that supposed WDW fans- as in people who willingly joined this forum because they enjoy WDW, and choose to spend their free time this way. Just over and over again every day? Why? Why spend your free time doing something that makes one miserable?

It just seems like a bit of a weird hobby, but then you know....there's the whole Twitterverse. These are strange times.

I long ago noticed...people SAY they want to be happy, but their actions don't match that one bit. I gather many people find comfort in misery.

We all have the power to disengage. Then again...perhaps some folks work for Disney's competition, and they are paid to troll.

They weigh far less than this size for sze.
Airplanes are meant to fly, they're made as light as possible.
This is a prop of a craft that doesn't fly, and would be unflyable even if it was light and had power.

I dont think weight is the driving factor in the size of the pedestal, with all those wings this things going to catch the wind like a kite but still needs to meet hurricane building codes.

While the jet photos are interesting I don’t think it’s comparable, Jets have a tiny cross section and are designed not to catch wind, other than up force on the wings, this thing is more like a sailboat.

Until someone provides a photo of a sailboat on a thin pedestal I’ll give Disney the benefit of the doubt this was required to make this thing safe.

This is incorrect.

Planes are designed to cut through the air with as little resistance as possible while still producing lift when moving forward.

When parked or statically mounted, the wind is going to act on those flat surfaces just like it would a sail if it is coming from any other direction other than nose to tail.

The images below are examples of what happens when an unsecured aircraft is hit by a large gust of wind when parked on the ground.

But those accidents likely could have been avoided with simple tie downs, my understanding is planes flip like that because the air gets under the wings and picks them off the ground, not because the wind hits them sideways and rolls them.

The way the “wings” are set up on the Guardians ship is much closer to a sailboat than an airplane. Lateral forces rather than horizontal forces.

It literally does not matter. When designing a support like this you have to account for wind coming from every direction.

While wind will more commonly come from a more lateral direction, there are a myriad of common circumstances that can cause it to move in any direction imaginable. A common summer thunderstorm produces microbursts that blow nearly straight down followed by nearly straight up once they hit the ground.

The bottom line is the stresses on this stand are not all that different from the ones previously pictured all through this thread.

Do we know if it’s possible we get Starlord and Gamora as face characters in WDW eventually? I doubt it since the ride got built, but there’s no issues with Universal?

They did have a stage show in EPCOT around the time the last movie was released. Do not be surprised if they show up again when the
ride is opened. Covid affected the Guardians, the Streetmosphere people at DHS, as well as, every other characters meet and greet. I am
pretty sure it will all come back in time.

Look at the photos. The planes aren’t sitting flat. They’re angled all sorts of ways making their wings a big surface to be hit with wind.
