The back of the old Energy building. They are adding new steel framing to the roof at the back of the building.

Looks like work is being done for foundations in Energy. Also the bottoms of the steel framing have been painted black for some reason. (Apologies for my shirt in the reflection)

Some piping and such has been moved inside the pavilion.

Anyone else thinking that during the launch into that banked turn that the car will rotate to be facing up at the ceiling the entire time to almost simulate a free fall? It would be quite fun.
I considered that and then wondered if maybe the cars will rotate inward to face down at a setpiece as they wrap around it.

I didn’t realize how depressing Energy looked until I saw it in person yesterday and today. It has always kinda dominated that side of Future World with its size, and now with the state it’s in it looks bad. A lot of noise going on in there also. Some workers were welding something on the back wall and they are digging even more in there. Could be for foundation work

They didn’t look very different to me

The solar panels are supposed to come back. The problem with the old ones is that they were 40 years old, extremely inefficient compared to modern ones and just in bad shape.

For reference, the 1980s panels, when new, ran about 8% efficiency, based on averages from the time. 2019 averages are in the area of 22%. With modern panels, they will generate almost 3x the power for the same real estate.

I wonder if Disney is getting around any sort of restrictions or taxes for a 'new building' by replacing every bit of the old building bit by bit.
I think that was the whole point in them “keeping” the building, other than fanservice (if that was even a factor they were considering to begin with)
