What has made disney unique and special (for me) is the compartmentalized theme for each area/land...
That feels as if it is gone out the window with the future world project(s) and DHS project(s) to me..
I would be ok with guardians, if it was thematically appropriate...

Maybe age does have an impact.

I'm 18.

The first Epcot I saw and remember from my childhood is Epcot opening Soarin' and the Nemo ride. I remember the original Test Track, the opening of the new one, and the best napping ride, UoE. I don't remember riding Horizons, I don't even remember seeing the building, but I understand how people older than me can have such emotional attachment to the original FW attractions thanks to Martin's Vids.

I'm excited for everything happening to Epcot.

It's an improvement compared to the Epcot from my childhood. It's the addition of things to do outside of eating overpriced finger-food or watching aging movies in unique formats. It's brand new ride tech with an IP that'll draw crowds.

It's not an improvement from 80s Epcot, from early 90s Epcot. It's not an improvement from IP-less attractions with unique themes, stories, and experiences (though not unique ride systems).

It's good to keep in mind both perspectives.

I think it will make sense once a few more projects get announced.

Tell that to the Toy Story Land thread where we had to endure years of people saying that Disney is now nothing more than a Six Flags park... I bet most of them have never even step foot in a Six Flags park, to say they are alike is nonsense.
To give Six Flags some credit, they theme some individual rides with appropriate facades and elements to try and inject a story into the experience -- and vice-versa.

But their attempts at theming "lands" generally fall far short of Disney's, unless one considers their "theme" to be "Six Flags Amusement Park."

Let's not blame age, plenty of us younger people also think it's an odd decision to say the least, and miss the older Epcot. But you can be disappointed with the direction and still be excited to see the final product. I'll miss Epcot the same way I miss MGM.
Yep, I would have loved to see Epcot in its prime. I’m not a fan of the direction it has been headed.

Unfortunately, you just missed out on it by a couple years. I'm just old enough to have caught the tail end of it. Still got to do Horizons and World of Motion and a proper Figment ride. I may have been young but I can still remember them. I am curious what the overall grand plan is, because the park seriously needs something. There's not a ride in that park that doesn't need help these days, and I just don't know how they let it get to this point.

"Go-Away Green"
One of Pantone’s top 2019 paint colors, the hue is a bold new take on a rich hunter green that hasn’t looked so visible since "Sky Blue" captured the design spotlight in the 90’s.

Emulating the feeling of lush botanicals and the healing power of nature, this rich deep color sets the tone with a strong foundational hue. Reserve this recent color trend for large, well-lit rooms and spaces, crying out for attention, as smaller areas will seem dark and overpowered.

And you 3 are just confirming my point, that anything that doesn't fall to your opinion is not correct either. Plus the fact that some of you can't seem to grasp that there are people looking forward to this ride.
I will probably enjoy the ride, since I love coasters. However, the location and the demise of a truly unique park is far more unsettling.

WS 4.0 - More of the same, but now with Ratatouille and even more alcohol!

Words can't properly describe the experience of EPCOT Center during the late 80's and into the 90's. As @marni1971 stated, even his videos can't do it justice. But for those of us who experienced it, the sights and sounds in his videos bring back a lot of the feelings that it evoked.

I really think big slow 🐌 moving omnimovers induced extreme boredom in the age of video games. Society has changed.

Next time you you watch a 30 second commercial just count the number of scene cuts. Average is one per second.

Just moving closer and closer to blipverts. (HUGE gold star to anyone who gets that reference :D )

And anyone who even tries to equate Mission: Space with Horizons can go sit in a corner. Permanently.

Marvel might be just a small element. I really don't know. I just know not to underestimate Imagineering.
I don't disagree at all with this! It does appear, more and more, that what is going to make money is taking front "coaster seat" over what makes theme great.... and there is not enough Imagineering pixie dust available to fix bad product placement. But I will take a wait and see attitude!
