These numbers are insane. Whatever happened to Chapek supposedly cleaning house at WDI to make sure this didn’t happen again? That was the one thing I thought he’d be good for.
How would he know how to accomplish this goal? Chapek has zero previous experience in design, construction or operations. His big idea to save money was rebranding existing attractions.

Disney has never been capable of making things at a reasonable price since DL was built.
Being expensive still has its grades of severity.

I know this has been debated on here at nauseam, but I would imagine that the corporate office has to be aware of the inequality of spend needed at Disney to make projects happen vs. Universal, so why are they satisfied with the status quo? Has there been a true acknowledgement to run a more efficient system that can kick out quality projects at reduced costs? I can't imagine the answer to be no.
So whats the hold up?
The hold up is the same one that creates the problem, the multitude of stakeholders that create indecision. You need someone who is so familiar with the entire process that they can properly determine what is and is not necessary, then said person needs the power to act on that determination.

I know the price for Toy Story Land is ridiculous, but how much would say Bugs Land cost the company today as compared to when it first opened? I'm just curious.

I have been to many theme parks across the country and I see what draws the lines. If Disney broadened it definition of "family" and built a coaster with an intensity level similar to The Hulk, Kraken, or any of several Busch Gardens Coaster, it would soon become one of the most popular attractions in WDW. I'm not implying that this belongs in EP (DHS would probably be the best fit), but I can't count the number of "families" I know with tween, teens, and young adults who have stopped going to WDW because the rides there are "lame". "Families" are not just 10 year old kids and their parents and grandparents. I feel that Disney has really marginalized the 15-30 age group. Yes, those people can "just go to Uni", but if WDW is trying to be the end-all of "whole family" destination resorts, they need to do more for that forgotten target audience. FWIW, I'm rapidly approaching 60 and love WDW for all of the exceptional theming and attention to detail - but I really wish there were a few more thrills to be had...

I think this is true. I think that's why we're getting Tron and Guardians. While not six flags omg I'm going to die coasters, they seem a bit "higher thrill" and geared towards the Universal crowd they want to pull in. It's not an awful strategy but one of them is going in the wrong place. In fact I'd swap them. But I think Tron could fit in either Future World or Tomorrowland. Guardians could have fit in the current sci-fi city they seem to want Tomorrowland to be. Of course the perfect fit is DHS, but then we'd have gotten Guardians On Sunset so ...

Anyway, I agree they're probably aiming to target the specific group they're missing out on. At least we're still getting dark rides on top of coasters. I don't do six flags or The Hulk. Tron, Slinky and now Guardians will be really pushing it for me. But I get there's a large audience there for coasters. Look at how popular meh Rock n' Roller Coaster is. Yeah the park has like four rides but still ...

I honestly have no idea. From what the project entails vs what it’s costing I think there’s a stealth bomber or six hidden in the costs.
Is it possible they are including whatever is being done at WoL? If I remember you originally said GOG could be going in both.
