So, if what i read here is correct, Disney is spending upwards of $225,000,000 on Rat and somewhere near $500,000,000 on GOTG. That doesn’t include whatever will go into refurbishing anything else in EPCOT. And yet somehow I and so many on these forums seem disappointed. I know what is happening at other parks and i understand TWD co makes vast sums of money, but when, if ever, will us couch imagineers be satisfied?
You misunderstand. Other companies could do far more, of comparable quality, for far less. TWDC used to be capable of that too.

These figures are also why you won’t get a bunch of other stuff that was planned.

I get it. It’s frustrating to see these budgets and lengths to complete projects. It seems there is a point of diminishing returns. I guess seeing this as someone who is taking a decade to repay losses from a failed business and watching what’s happening: Disney employees complaining they aren’t paid enough, good staff laid off because they are paid decent wages and then at least a billion on capital improvements and yet WDW seems to be falling behind. What is the pressure point? Is Wedway enterprises still the sole construction firm for WDW? I thought that dirty secret was dealt with. Why such huge budgets and so many associated with WDW are underpaid. One can’t complain it’s going to shareholders if it’s already approved expenses. So where is the disconnect? Seems construction costs are out of proportion to final product, right? One would think TWD co was better at cost containment than I was. It seems that way, at least with personnel/Human Resources.

These numbers are insane. Whatever happened to Chapek supposedly cleaning house at WDI to make sure this didn’t happen again? That was the one thing I thought he’d be good for.

I'm with you mostly - as I don't want to see this coaster in Epcot (DHS on the other hand? Sure.). But I'd hardly call Guardians 'yesterdays superhero flash in the Pan'. It's very popular. It was the highest grossing super hero film of 2017 (yes, it beat out Wonder Woman globally, although Wonder Woman did better in the US). Still, your points about the mediocre ride (although that remains to be seen) and high budget are valid.

It's worth noting however, that the reviews changed from the first movie to the second. First one talked about how unique and fresh it was. Second one, the reviews all concede the film lost it's way but that that it's 'enjoyable enough'. I would anticipate that a third film will see lowered ticket sales initially and a slow upturn if they turn the ship around, or a dud.

I think we’d be pleased with either of those rides at DHS. Rat would be welcome in Fantasyland, too.

They used to be able to build theme parks for $1bn.

In your opinion will this result in a true E ticket Disney style ride that could generate increased attendance?
It has been eluded to by some that this attraction will be nothing more than a family version of rock n roller coaster.
I guess what I'm asking is, where should everyone's general expectation be with this ride? Homerun or expect significantly less?
Thanks again for your input.
I’d think it will generate a bump in attendance. If not it’s been a total waste.

Personally - and just IMHO - I’d rather ride a fixed Space Mountain.

I think the three new rides in DHS will be true E tickets.

Disney has never been capable of making things at a reasonable price since DL was built.

I hope they choke on it in a career destroying financial train wreck.

A half a billion mediocre ride, outclassed before opening by the new Potter coaster, based on yesterday's superhero flash in the pan. Hasn't the world already moved on to Wonder Woman and Black Panther?
I’d wager a guess at no considering their last movie wasn't too long ago and their hyped appearance with the other Avengers in Infinity War.

I know you hate this idea, but come on man.

Don't assume anything. Thor 2 stunk, but 3 was the best of the series and more enjoyable than most avenger movies.

I will be "satisfied" once it appears that management even slightly understands their own parks. GOTG should have been laughed out of the room when proposed at Epcot. (For the record, the same should have happened with Frozen)

I will be "satisfied" when Disney stops with the notion that every attraction needs to be based on a movie/tv show/character in order for it to be enjoyable.

I will be "satisfied" when Journey to Imagination gets a proper refurb that brings back Dreamfinder.

I could go on...but that's enough for now.

Well, even as expensive as those sound, they still haven't hit the bill for their ride rationing/guest tracking system.

Edutainment is dead. It doesn't work on TV, so it can't work in a theme park. So says The Weatherman.
