Would this be a suitable compromise? (put it in a quote box so I don't eat up page space)Fixed that for you.
So apparently this thing is a money pit. Based on what we know of this attraction, what could possibly be sucking all of the money away?
Yes, the Scrooge Money Pit at D23 Expo. They should have / could have monetized it:Has Disney built anything recently that wasn't a money pit?
It’s typically cheaper to reuse. The building would have had its condition assessed before a decision was made to reuse or start fresh.Could the retrofitting of the current Energy building be part of the money sink?

Huh? The structural systems (coaster, mountain and yeti platform) at Expedition Everest are independent of each other, not dependent. They would definitely be digging out chunks of the slab (which I would image to be quite thick to accommodate the weight of the moving theater) to pour separate foundations for the coaster.Let's hope if it isn't, then they don't do the asinine thing they did with Everest and build everything dependent on each other in terms of structure, ride, etc.
Whenever I hear someone crow about the accuracy of computer models, in general, not just in theme parks or building, I always think to how much Disney made of how sophisticated EE was because of the computer modeling process, and how computers can only model based on the parameters that humans give them...
Apparently Universe of Energy's Pteranodons were shipped to Disneyland as spares for the Primeval World flock. The big one's new home is yet to be determined though.
It’s more a gutting than retrofit.Could the retrofitting of the current Energy building be part of the money sink?
I’ll give you that would be better for us, but this was definetely the cheaper and more efficient option. It would be cheaper, better, and more efficient if they moved it to DINOSAUR in AK.
That would be common sense.
Here are some pictures of the construction going on behind the Universe of Energy building. It's mostly earthworks for the retaining pond at this point, so there's not a whole lot to see yet. Photos are from the 5K on Thursday the 4th and Half Marathon on Saturday the 6th

Did Ellen ever get her AA from the ride?
