Is there any chance that the attraction will tie in the theme of energy and just the Guardians of Galaxy characters hosting it so to speak? I just dont see how they can put in a ride without it tying into something. I see some comments about them retheming all of Future World with IPs but how could that possibly be. They just spent all the money on Soarin and Test Track not so long ago as well. And neither has anything to do with movies or characters.

The new Soarin' film was paid for by Shanghai Disney Resort and Test Track was paid for by General Motors.

Ok but my point is they aren't based on or themed on movies/ IPs. If a GOTG attraction goes in I would think it would have to be tied into an energy or other Epcot theme. If not it sticks out like a sore thumb. All of FW attractions are not based on movies. The Seas/Nemo ride is still based on the aquariums/seas theme with just a Nemo overlay. So it works because it is still within the theme. If they can somehow incorporate GOTG with the energy theme I would be ok with it. Maybe just wishful thinking on my part.

Yeah, nice quote. Pity you have no idea what Walt was talking about.

Let me try to clarify it for you. He was talking about INNOVATIVE, NEW, ORIGINAL, IMAGINATIVE IDEAS. Not jamming somebody else's dopey third-rate creation in a park where it doesn't belong. That's not "new" and it's got nothing to do with curiosity. It's just lazy, insipid, greedy and cynical. Everything Walt did NOT stand for.

Using that quote to justify anything that's put into a Disney park is plain clueless. It reveals that you're incapable of understanding what used to make Disney and its creations special. What set it apart. Here's another lesson: WDW is not just a bigger, more expensive Six Flags. Walt's parks used to take risks and try to be the best, and they weren't meant to be babysitters for dum-dums. So no, GOTG doesn't belong in Epcot and Muppets don't belong in Liberty Square. Have a nice day.
I remember when Disney built the Hundred Acre Wood playground in the MK, and the construction walls said, "It's kind of fun to do the impossible. —Walt Disney."

He was one of the world's greatest creative geniuses, and his legacy has been reduced to toys and pithy catchphrases.

Unless someone else is paying Disney currently will pretty much only do franchise-based attractions regardless of the park's history or theme. This is why there is so much dismay regarding this concept.

Well for lack of a better word that completely sucks. I cant see how anyone can think this is a good thing. And if they were going to add another IP based attraction why GOTG of all things. Thats the least Disneyesque IP they could have chosen.

Elaborate, Please. How are they going to force-fit GOTG in Epcot without compromising it's thematic integrity?
They could honestly make it a Superhero pavilion. Actually wouldn't be bad I think. Not as good as Energy, but still.

Don't forget the Ellen's energy ride has the Jepody overlay! I personally love that ride it's always been a fav. I'm slightly worried because it's got to be a completely different concept and type of ride to work with GOTG but I guess time will tell. Just hope it doesn't close too soon I want to ride it as Ellen even if it is for the last time next spring :(

I feel like Epcot was founded on being this type of educational theme park. Educating guests on future technologies, the body and health, the land, the seas, space, history, science, countries and their different cultures. And imagination somehow fits perfectly too don't know how but it feels right.

I guess the current Epcot mission statement has been worn out. I'm all for a GOTG attraction. Armchair imagineering for a second I think replacing Stitch and Laugh Floor in Tomorrowland would make more sense. I think GOTG would fit perfectly within that area of MK.

I get what WDI is thinking they are in a tough spot trying to come up with new attractions to bring people in and they want to use big block buster franchises as the selling point for them.

Yes there should be a second large building. The old and new will be connected.

It will probably be big enough to be seen from onstage and should be appropriately themed. Hence the balloons.

Balloons?

edit: Just saw the front page. Wow so this project to retool Innoventions plaza and add GOTG to Energy is pretty serious then? I guess this isn't just another Blue sky rumor.

How does a Superhero Pavillion fit Epcot? Last I checked Epcot was about the real world and Super Heroes are fictional.
I've actually always had a soft spot for Ellen, and have always been a diehard fan of the music, but it's dated and needs an overhaul or replacement. Now to answer your question because Epcot is supposed to imitate a World's Fair so it is just another World's Fair pavilion, Imagination isn't real, but it works, comic books are in essence just another category to be honest. I think a Comic Book type of pavilion would be a better term than superhero, or Marvel, but I agree it isn't optimal, I would prefer a new Energy ride, or a technology pavilion or whatever, but to be honest it isn't as bad fit as people think. And to be honest Guardians works better with the future theme than if they could use The Avengers. The Land isn't exactly future themed, same with other pavilions, so I think they should just rename it Discovery World instead. But again I agree I would love to see an updated modern '80s Epcot Center, but it won't happen. As long as they keep most of the vibe of the park, and are lighter on use of ips in the future it could work out great. It seems Disney has better plans than we all thought, and actually knows what they are doing.
