Both of Universal's parks are literally nothing but IPs. Both parks. It's laughable that you can lambaste Disney to the extent that you'd never spend a "single, solitary dime" there, yet you'd consider an AP to Universal, where they literally jam IPs into every single attraction in every single land of both its parks.

It's like giving up soda because there's too much sugar, but then eating a bag of candy.
We accept Universal for that because that's the way they've been from the start. We expect it from them and only really care if the attractions are good or not. We hold Disney to a much higher standard because we remember a time where they were better than that. Much better.

Yes, even with all the recent additions and those upcoming Universal doesn't hold a candle to what Walt Disney World once was.

This is so true!

@MKeeler had an idea in another thread that they could leave the ride to Figment and Dreamfinder and put Inside Out in the theater. I could actually live with that.
I agree this is the best idea if IO has to tie in with the Imagination Pavilion. I still think that that IP would be better suited in a WoL pavilion reboot though, not like they would ever do it.

And really, how much of a chance would there ever be of Dreamfinder making a comeback if they actually did a proper JII 4.0?

Wow I am so proud of the passion displayed by the members of these forums. It just took me an hour to catch up with this thread from just yesterday afternoon. I believe most of us feel the same about all these proposed changes. The sad part is if Celebration Place and TDO are reading this but just simply do not care about any of our sediments. Or maybe they do, but the Bobs are too powerful and too arrogant to listen to passionate folks like us even if we are the minority of park goers. Yeah I wrote and mailed him a 4 page letter discussing my concerns about Epcot earlier this year. No response as I expected.

It's a matter of perspective--embrace the new park identity and possibly find enjoyment in new offerings or insist that the lack of EPCOT Center ensures that the park will be a hell-hole, and find yourself chronically depressed at its state.

Honestly, I have been unable to identify the new park identity. Yes, I understand the addition of country- and regionally-inspired animated films to World Showcase, but the intent for Future World is unclear to me. Every night, when the park closes, Living with the Land is still a biodome inspired by futurist thought.

My point about Eisner was he cared about the parks and actually opened new parks and rides. I wasn't saying everything he did was great far from it. Like you mentioned DCA 1.0 was a mess, but Animal Kingdom even though lacking in E ticket rides was and is a beautiful park thanks to Joe. Facts are Iger hasn't done anything for the parks in Orlando but to take away or let crumble. It's not even up for debate.
Well, I am not sure it isn't up for debate. One ruined/minimized the park content to maximize profit, the other has just simply let them rot. I agree, Joe did a nice job on the detail in AK, but at the end of the day, I could have gone to the San Diego Zoo in 1998 and seen the same animals with lovely surroundings. I do see your point, but I just don't think either on of them looks at these things in any other way then to make money for the company. How do keep turnstyles turning. Imagination is a case and point. The redo result is less track, one or two AAs (sorry can't remember) and a theme that sort of leaves one scratching their heads. Don't take this as me disagreeing with you. I do, for the most part see your point. I just don't think one cared any more then the other.

You could also look at it this way. Iger spent a billion dollars on MM+. Eisner spent just over $500million on MGM back in 1989. Iger has only been in office for a fraction of the time Iger was in. I bet you the relative spend on WDW is probably the same. Eisner was CEO for 22 years. Iger is at 11 years this year and will only make it to 13 years.

  • "The Land will get a major overhaul to their Circle of Life theater and Living with the Land. Soarin will be the only thing that remains open during the major overhaul, which could see the tour through the greenhouse changed into a bit of a thrill ride."
From behind the thrills. Im sorry what! What what. No thrill ride through the greenhouses.

It seemed like at the beginning of his tenure, Eisner did a lot of exciting, forward thinking things at the theme parks... The parks grew during that time... It was later when he brought in Pressler and Harriss, and a host of others from the retail world that the parks began their spiral downward... Not sure what Iger has brought to the stateside parks since taking office...

At this point, I'm welcoming anything new to Epcot. I haven't been to Disney since 2008, but even then, walking around Future World wasn't the best time. My family did Soarin', and 'Living with the Land', and I think my dad and sister did Test Track after that. My mom has back problems and motion sickness, and for years I was scared of having motion sickness too, so I'd always wait around with her. But after those 3 attractions, we went to WS. We didn't do Mission Space (again, motion sickness), Energy, or Imagination. We came back and did the Seas after walking around WS, because we weren't sure what else to do. We wanted another ride, but we didn't want to wait for Soarin' again, and we wanted something that looked up to date. We also wanted something that everyone could ride. I am really, really hoping that Guardians brings something fully accessible to the table, because that park needs it.
