The Marvel contract seems to remove that possibility. Time and money are being spent on other attractions using IPs that can't be used in Orlando. Marvel will be concentrated elsewhere.

Even with the Uni contract limitation, I think they could make a plausible land. One GotG attraction. One for Dr. Strange. One more attraction based on another property they could use (perhaps The Inhumans, for example, with their upcoming show; maybe Daredevil, though a more family oriented version than the Netflix show) or at least use Big Hero 6. Have a shop themed to the Collector. Use SHIELD (if possible; it's not clear) for some sort of interactive game like SotMK or for cosplay like they are doing with Star Wars. Use Howard the Duck in some comical fashion.

Or they could even do a more generic superhero land concept and include The Incredibles.

Wow! I have had time to prepare for this, but I was really wishing they would go with a better fitting IP. Or heaven forbid, an attraction based on energy!

There's no reason that the current Energy pavilion has to continue to have an Energy theme. Even if one wants to keep it more edutainment oriented, they can change it to something else; there is no reason to have an artificial constraint of it being that specific concept.

I'm mainly surprised by how back and forth this project is. Last week there was an enormous cloud of doubt over the Guardians IP, and now they're willing to shell out all this cash for a brand new attraction? Confusing. Didn't @WDW1974 even say this was nearly off the table?
He did. And he was right. It's been (and in some respects still is) to and fro.

Their Marvel Land is going elsewhere.

Sure. I just think that there's room for Marvel at both DL and WDW (and international parks, like HKDL) especially if they had different attractions -- which the contract with Uni would pretty much force them to do at WDW. So, DL could have their Avengers or Captain America or whatever stuff and HK has Iron Man and Ant-Man, while WDW could have other characters.

I mean, not a big deal, but I feel like that would have been the best way to integrate GotG to WDW and it would also help DHS' need for additional attractions beyond Star Wars' opening.

Don't know if it's been said, but does anyone know if this rumored Guardians replacement is going to keep the edutainment or will it go the Frozenstrom route and just be an IP fest?

I like the idea of individual Marvel attractions at WDW where possible, but, even as a lifelong Marvel fanboy, I don't want a "land" at WDW, mostly because it will seem so B-list compared to Universal's. As popular as the Guardians movie franchise is, having Guardians and Doctor Strange as your "land" feels week when down the street has the real flagship Marvel properties like Hulk, Spider-Man, and X-Men.

Also, Inhumans is currently the "fetch" of the Marvel Universe, in that they keep trying to make it happen (basically as an alternative to mutants), and it's never going to happen the way they want it to.

I don't mind if they spread out what they can use in WDW in terms of Marvel (which isn't much). I don't care if we have a land or not (though I understand and agree with doctornick that a dedicated area at DHS makes sense but they can't really use much). Seems like DCA is getting that. And I imagine WDS Paris will eventually get something as well.

I'm not thrilled about GOTG (a franchise I do like, a lot) being shoehorned into Energy but I'll wait and see what kind of ride we get. I just want to know they have SOME plan for Epcot that makes sense. I know we'll never get what we once had back but I want things to make sense. I want there to be an overall theme. But it just sounds like shove IPs in everywhere. And I don't hate IPs if used correctly but they haven't given me great confidence where Epcot and IPs are concerned. But I don't hate IPs just to hate them. I want them used well and where it makes sense. I have no issues if we had a BH6 and Inside Out presence beyond meet and greets. I just don't quite get GOTG in Epcot. They should have at least gone to Tomorrowland which is basically Sci-Fi Land now.

Always remember Disney is looking long term. And Marvel will be 100% Disney to future generations including new and revitalized characters.
