understood. excuse the mix up.The OP said EPCOT Center, not E.P.C.O.T. With respect.
Remember, in 1978 they though EPCOT Center could change the world.

I know others have jokingly suggested this before, but knowing Iger's TWDC, I would not be surprised if that idea was actually tossed around.Fifth will be when they convert space ship earth to the death star
Okay, I know I'm pretty new here, but here's an idea to address the fading star of Future World:
Change it to Discovery World.
The idea of Future World is hard to maintain. Sure, Disney makes a ton of money, but any attraction would need to be constantly under renovation if they wanted to keep everything up to date with technology. By renaming it to Discovery World, you can talk about the past, present, and future. You can include sci-fi. You can keep the Seas (just add more fish to it). You can still teach people about agriculture. And, fingers crossed, you can still create a spark in their imagination (in all honesty, if we were talking about the future, the Imagination Pavilion seems out of place; not so in Discovery World).
Future World and Tomorrowland share the same problem of future tech happening faster than Disney can keep up with. This is where France initially got it right with Discoveryland.
I'm guessing that the GotG attraction will be announced at Comic Con next month, and then a rebranding of Epcot at next year's D23. And really, this couldn't be done fast enough. Since nothing has been done at Epcot, it's just been stuck as the park with festivals, alcohol, and outdated attractions. Meanwhile, MK, AK, and HS have all gotten some help (and I don't think they're finished at any of them tbh). I know everyone has their opinions on the IP being brought in (trust me, I read all 25 pages of comments), but in some cases, it can help. Do I think that a Stark Expo would fit better at Epcot than Guardians? Absolutely, but Universal is not about to give that property up (even though they don't really use Iron Man). What I think people have forgotten about GotG is that it was the 3rd highest grossing movie of 2014. It made close to $800 million at the box office. It was a wildly successful film (in terms of the MCU, it is the 5th most successful film, even outperforming Captain America: The Winter Soldier).
So while I think that they only picked GotG to replace Energy to get Marvel in the parks, I also think it's to bring about a new era of Discovery. I'm not 100% on board, but I am looking forward to seeing some new life in Epcot.
For WS... further enhancements to existing pavilions or (god forbid) a new one?Yes.
THough I hve heard some countries wanting to pull out, I have hope that we get a couple more pavillions. For WS... further enhancements to existing pavilions or (god forbid) a new one?
Remember, the ride is just one element of the pavilion. It may be its own thing, but the exhibits within the pavilion still educate you on marine life often in ways that connect it to the movie. An excellent example of this is Turtle Talk with Crush, where children can ask Crush questions that apply to real world sea turtles. Take a look around sometime, and you will see that the pavilion's message is still intact, but the way in which it's delivered is made more relevant towards families due to its connection to the animated classic.Until you actually look at the attraction... the only thing it shared with the Pavilion is 'hey, there's fish in here!'
Just because they share the same setting.. doesn't make the message or what they project the same. Just like Frozen being set in Scandinavia doesn't make it fit the message and projection that the WS Pavilion was about.
The Nemo attraction is 'hey, wheres Nemo' staring the cast of the movie.. and doesn't connect at all with The Living Seas pavilion. They didn't even TRY to tie the things together... which is why even after replacing the pavilions original attraction, its still all disjointed and people go 'hrm.. nice aquarium??' and not much else.
Isn't Morocco the only country that actually sponsors their pavilion anymore? With everyone else, I think Disney just kind of runs things.THough I hve heard some countries wanting to pull out, I have hope that we get a couple more pavillions.
You may be right. I am no longer sure.Isn't Morocco the only country that actually sponsors their pavilion anymore? With everyone else, I think Disney just kind of runs things.
OK. I admit, I just pictured @marni1971 in the Nicolas Cage Role for National Treasure 3. . .He's a national treasure, as far as I'm concerned.
The op was from England so I didn't bother with the full name of a museum he probably didn't know. I am personally a huge fan of the FI. No one has topped the experience of walking through a human heart.
I think Morocco was the only one that ever sponsored its pavilion. Pretty sure the others were all corporate sponsors.Isn't Morocco the only country that actually sponsors their pavilion anymore? With everyone else, I think Disney just kind of runs things.
I think China just decided to build some islands in lagoon to claim it and probably space between them and Germany as well.THough I hve heard some countries wanting to pull out, I have hope that we get a couple more pavillions.

You're right. It was tone-deaf. Modified original post.I take the accusations that Walt was an anti-Semite seriously, because anti-Semitism is an ugly thing.
I didn't say what I said to antagonize you. But we've got a generation of kids now who believe Walt was an anti-Semite, because of those jokes. I hope you weren't serious, but even if you were, well, now you know. He wasn't an anti-Semite. I enjoy reading your posts 99.9% of the time. But I just couldn't let that go by. Let's not derail the thread over this, though. Peace out.
Aladdin spinner cofirmedI know that representatives from the Moroccan government went to Epcot within the past month.... ]
(After having tea with me the previous day)
So- I have read all 17 pages now. There is a lot of complaining about how this doesn't fit the theme, a lot of complaining that Epcot no longer has a theme and absolutely no one trying to figure out what kind of a theme this would fit. I mean, let's pretend to give Disney the benefit of the doubt, and wonder what kind of theme this would work with. Here's my "hey maybe":
We get three distinctive areas in Epcot. World Showcase which is about the continents and countries of our world. Beyond the land (or something similar) which is all about those areas outside the countries and continents (the air and sea.) Finally, beyond our world were the focus is on space and what had been conjectured about how other world's may live. Mission to mars would work with that, as would GotG. The only issue is with test track but I guess if they rethemed it again to being about designing rovers instead of cars then it would still work. It would all be drawn together by space ship earth.
