I was apparently under a rock yesterday, and totally missed this. I just saw large thread on GotG and must have assumed it was the old ToT rumors. Then today I saw the word Epcot! Still catching up.

Sad times. When will they just rename the park, because it will be a shame that what was originally a very grand plan by Walt Disney will be associated with uninspiring movie branded content, whether it's in all caps or lowercase. My Dad and I have talked extensively, that in the Pressler era there were a lot of bad operational changes, but with the right people in charge, could be walked back. But in the Iger era, the changes that are happening are things that can't be easily walked back. This is another thing to add to the list.

I did see someone mention the old Epcot music. I can listen to those songs forever, and it's heartbreaking to know how much commitment and determination went into bringing the original EPCOT Center to life, by the designers, the construction team, everyone, to get it done. Yes, it had it's flaws (we're not quite sure why when they new Tomorrowland was such a problem to keep relevant they'd go with half a park needing to remain so, instead of just 1/5 of a park). But it was grand, and showed vision and attempted to inspire young minds while having fun. Between Frozen and now this, it feels like when your childhood sweetheart stays with you through thick and thin, and then just after you make it big, you ditch them for a younger, prettier model.

Hate let you down but the EPCOT that was built was not the EPCOT Walt envisioned.

I'm also in the camp who sadly never experience Epcot until 2013... so I have nothing to go off of. I adore Spaceship Earth thought the ending was cute the first time... Then wished there was actually something to stare at on the descent during subsequent visits.

Ellen was boring, dinosaur show scene was cool. Test track was fun, nothing amazing, mission space was neat, nothing amazing. Journey I just yearned to experience the ride everyone talks about from long ago.

Epcot seriously needs some love. I doubt this is the answer... But it may be the only thing we can get. Hopefully they'll make it work as best as they can.

Really, no kidding. That's why I said "started with." Now it just feels like when companies buy the rights to old companies hoping to capitalize on the good feelings people had for the original (like what different entities have tried to do with Pan Am). Walt's plan might have been grander than what got built, but whatever this new Epcot will be, it feels orders of magnitude more small-minded still.

PhotoDave dropping hints that Ghostrider themed Tron clone is actually going in Horizons!! :p He must not be part of the whole "no Marvel on East coast" deal.

Actually I'm the new attraction at Epcot. I'm bringing mother, Lana, and the entire Figgis agency. Baboo & The South Pacific lacrosse championships.

What else would you expect for the world's greatest secret agent turn private detective?

No, Walt's vision was a CITY. Not a theme park. Walt's E.P.C.O.T. is nothing like the theme park we have, in any version, even from opening day. Its really something everyone needs to get over. Because if Walt had built his vision, not only would you not have an 'ideal of EPCOT Center' that is unrealistic, but it probably would have bankrupt TWDC to build it and you might have NOTHING to visit.

This rumour is true. The building will most likely be demolished.

This is the start of IP being brought to EPCOT. At some point you will find out more details about Tron taking over Innoventions, Inside Out taking over Imagination, and the loss of Impressions de France.

Also, International Gateway will be redone, but I do not know those details.

Actually it's continuation of IP being brought to Epcot.

I rechecked, I used the word "originally" not "started with," but that was my intent. Point A was a very grand vision, Point B was a less grand vision, but still could be associated with words like grand and vision despite not being the original plan, and now we're in a place where we are watered down to Point H where words like grand or vision seem foreign to the concept proposed. But still using a name that implies it is grander than a collection of movie tie-ins.

Is this really such a difficult concept to get across?
