Guardians of the Galaxy coming to Energy Pavilion at Epcot

I'm excited for change at this point. I never really had the fond memories of the original Epcot, even though that is what it was when I first visited. The space age motifs and rainbows suits of the 80s are long gone. The Epcot that has arisen in the last 15-20 years in my opinion is horrible. It's a shell of a once great park that was clinging to the past as pieces were moved into the future. Project Gemini probably should have happened. It might have been a more coherent effort than what will likely transpire now. At this point for me IPs are not the enemy if they bring change. Does the front of the park need a clear mission? Yes, does it have to "Future"World? For me, no. Discovery Land works for me. Could East and West have two different themes? Yes.

Guardians has the potential to do great things. Pages ago someone brought up Xandar and how it looks like an old school epcot pavilion. I agree but it seems like they are keeping the Energy Facade which is interesting. Mission Space desperately needs a new ride sequence.

I think Inside Out should be more firmly represented in Epcot either in Life or Imagination. I also thing Innoventions should get a full on Big Hero 6 overlay. As for World Showcase, Gran Fiests works for me thematically given Salads Amigos and its intent. It made the Mexico ride better its just a shame it took like a decade to get the animatronics. Frozen works for me as while it might not be Norway, it was inspired by Norwegian stories. I personally wouldn't mind seeing character appropriate attractions in much of the World Showcase as sacrilegious is that is to some. Mulan should be in China. I'd love a ride in every country honestly because right now my world showcase experience is just a few quick stops and a stroll. Ratatouille belongs in France. England has so many options.

I think we need to be open to a new version of Epcot that inspires through the IPs because frankly what it is now isn't inspiring anything in me and I'm sure its not inspiring many other people to do much more than drink.

The Epcot Manifesto
I'll admit that this is the first thing that has convinced me to fire off a letter to one of the ones in charge at Disney. I have no hopes whatsoever that it will do a lick of good, but I guess in some ways it's cathartic.
Valiquette sent, Chapek and Kalogridis to go.

This rumour is true. The building will most likely be demolished.

This is the start of IP being brought to EPCOT. At some point you will find out more details about Tron taking over Innoventions, Inside Out taking over Imagination, and the loss of Impressions de France.

Also, International Gateway will be redone, but I do not know those details.
@MansionButler84 @aaronml @WDW1974 @marni1971 anyone want to weigh in on all this?

You also said Disney would buy back the rights from Uni within 6 months of the Marvel acquisition. How's that working out for you?

Actually I said Uni would voluntarily give up the rights. I misunderestimated their lack of vision. A mistake I will not repeat.

To be fair. Nemo in future world was kinda the start. It's not like we didn't expect this. It's as themed to the seas as GOTG is to "space"

This may have been discussed already but I'm not about to dig through 29 pages of this thread, but when GotG comes to Epcot along with say Tron, don't you also have to reconsider re-theming Spaceship Earth and the Land? How would they tie in to the IPs? They would not technically fit into the IP idea that Epcot is heading towards (and then we riot).

The opinions of the minority do not matter. Like it or not, the hardcore fans on this forum are the minority.

The majority are the millions of people every year who say "wow I like guardians of the Galaxy" and as long as they don't think about it to much, the line will be out the door.

Great question, I too wonder how far this will go. I shudder to think about spaceship earth, it is screaming SW overlay and deathstar...and that would be terrible.

I wonder about land........you have lion king and could add jungle book things in if you wanted....but with soarin already there...who knows?

I know it seems crazy given current decisions but I think Disney is actually smart enough to NOT touch spaceship earth. Its actually the icon.
