I'm still holding out hope that this doesn't happen, it would really be the end of any hope of Epcot actually becoming a meaningful combination of education and entertainment and I know there is no shortage of ideas that could remain true to the spirit of the park. I personally think a weather pavilion would be an excellent addition to FW, use the EMV ride and send guests into a hurricane around the story of advances in disaster response technology. But that's my arm-chair Imagineer coming out and I'll avoid that on this post. I would be very upset if this came to pass.

We rode Energy today to say goodbye to the attraction. It's not a horrible ride, just a bit outdated. Plus, kids don't have the attention span to sit through a 45 minute attraction. The outside really looks like it's seen it's better days along with the WOL pallivion. It will be interesting to see what direction they go.

1) update it
2) don't take kids on
3) maintain it

It's a sad day when the solution to the problem is "don't take kids on." They can sit on the bench by Walt, I suppose.
Well not every attraction is meant for every guest. I am sorry but Toddlers just can't ride Space Mountain... it is not scaled for them or appropriate. Some kids are afraid of the Haunted Mansion...so should we lighten it up and add sillly characters tomake it more accessible to young ones? not every attraction has to appeal to the lowest common denomonator... there should be something for everyone. I need to remember this myself when I get mad they are building another stupid Meet & Greet instead of a real attraction.

You have a point. I guess what I'm saying is that it's a sad day when a ride conceived to be for everyone, can no longer be.

but the ride conceived for everyone will no longer exist...it is going away completely...it is not like they are adding a hundred foot flume drop into It's A Small World...lol

Have something for everyone but not everything has to be for everyone.

It can still be. Nothing has changed. You just needs guests with an attention span longer than 3 minutes.
Good luck with that one. I witnessed countless times that the parent would toss their phone to their kid if the wait time was longer than 10 minutes for an attraction. Or the parent was to engrossed their phone to communicate with the rest of the family. It was some good people watching for me.

Bingo. We skipped rides that weren't our cup of tea. That's why we made a list of the must have's and what we wanted to ride twice. Did everything with ease, had a great time and the high crowd level didn't bother me at all. Ellen's Energy ride could be a great ride again if they would invest money in the attractions. Just update it to the 21st century. Several members have stated very good ideas of what should happen to the park. Plus, they could close pallivions down to update them one at a time. Heck, they could work on Energy and WOL at the same time and it wouldn't make an impact on the guest experience. Then you would have two new attractions opening at the same time. Then turn your attention on Imagination pallivion. Figment needs some love.

I feel like the kids argument is being looked at the wrong way. In UoE's case, it being not for everyone simply refers to interest, and not ability to ride, much like any other attraction. There's no reason its ride system can't be designed to make a captivating experience for all ages, just because not everything needs to be for everyone should a demographic necessarily just be shrugged off. And I don't buy the whole attention span argument, I mean, people (including young children) go to the movies all the time, for example, and movies are 2-3 times as long. Basically what I'm saying is it would be able to hold the attention span of those "plebs" if it was a very well executed story/experience.

I agree 100%. The saving grace of this ride is the Dinosaur scene, imagine if the entire ride was a giant dark ride like that? It would be awesome!

And have a ride space around 3 miles long....

It's so frustrating the pavilion has so much potential. The original version had so much potential and so many clever tricks. Not everyone could get into it, Ellen was signed to ABC, Eisner wanted synergy etc etc etc
