Maelstrom was not an overlay of an existing atteaction, and it was in a proper setting, had a cohesive storyline(sans the quick ending), substance, and was not designed Solely off brand reliability. Pound for pound, it had much more soul and purpose than FEA. Do I miss it? No. Was it "greater" than FEA, definitely.
It was never great... lets have a reality check

Lol at the people who seriously think Frozen is a great attraction. Delusion at its finest. Alas, this is what Disney had conditioned their fans to praise, mediocrity. This is why I don't really feel any remorse for the cuts coming to TSL, Guardians taking over Ellen, or any of the other half brained things rumored or planned. WDW deserves it all because the fans do not demand better, therefore they don't deserve anything grand. TDO is giving everyone what they want so badly, cheaply themed experiences.
It's not great but it is a lot better than I expected it to be. It's just in the wrong spot and shouldn't have been shoved into Maelstrom. Partially for capacity reasons and then the obvious placement in Norway. There's also the fact that we know they can do better because they actually will be doing better on all accounts elsewhere.

More to the actual topic...

Wow. They actually put in a constant reminder of the hack job they're doing. I am not looking very forward to this next July.
Wow from the marketing department lol.....That really is a bit of "Hey pal, up yours!"
"Have a magical day."

Could someone tell me if the "rumor" is that GOTG is going to be in DHS and Epcot?
Based on the title of this thread? That's not enough? Oh, my mistake, you said AND not OR. I think from everything on this forum, it's only rumored for Epcot, currently. Most rumors of it landing in the DHS ToT have been, at this time, said to be not accurate. But the wise insiders often say things can change.

What a sad day it is to have to be happy about something like that. But I'm in the same boat.

Attendance dropping can be good and bad. It can tell corporate that people aren't happy with the way things are now and they need to make improvements to win them back...but on the flip side, those "improvements" can also easily turn into cheap IP-driven overlays (hence the reason for this thread).

Any chance we see a loose tie or parallel with some of the WESTCOT proposals? The Wonders of Living, The Wonders of Earth and The Wonders of Space are largely represented already in Epcot so some sort of "Ventureport" renaming of Future World could be in order.

We can only hope. Ever since I discovered what was to be Westcot, I have been disillusioned by anything happening in DCA. That would be a good place to return to for some "new" inspiration.

I just don't see how "Future World" can remain the name of the front half of that park.

Agreed. It made total sense in the 80's to theme everything post-21st century. But now that we're here (and things aren't looking super brilliant) I think a re-name would be good...SO LONG as it retains the original vision of FW, and doesn't become just a re-hash of everything else.

What? We have robot cars. We have printers that can print out human organs. My phone is a camera, a web browser, and several other things I can't keep track of. We can talk to people all around the world, even if we have nothing to say. Are things perfect? No. But...

There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow, smiling at the end of every day....

Humans are also arguably more divided and less "connected" to each other and their own environments than ever before. When you literally do all your "social interacting" on a handheld device instead of person to person, I think that's a problem. Things may have improved technologically, but its still a far cry from the "imagined" future presented in say, Horizons. (And as for not being brilliant...I guess that was a slight political jab...but we'll gloss over that)

Now, what the world REALLY needs more of is Sherman Brothers music!

How would GOTG be able to use the same ride system as Ellen? What are we thinking about interior details, plotline, Speed, etc.? So far the rumor is just "Ellen says bye so Marvel can sell more GOTG merch":D;)
