I get it and I agree with you. It is clear that Disney is not going to go back to Epcot Center though. My thought is purely based on that fact. In order to get the old Epcot Center theme back in place and make the park somewhat cohesive again, I feel like the Imagineers could combine the two ideas together. Science, future and technology coupled with Disney movie elements and characters to tech you even though you didn't know it. Take Crush for example. He does try to teach you something about sea turtles while entertaining you with movie elements and characters. Apply this philosophy to everything done at the park. Now think about SSE. It is essentially the last remains of Epcot Center. It is what Epcot Center was built to do. (It is also my favorite ride in all of the parks.) Sadly, it is mostly a walk on ride. (Here is where I am going to be a bit sacrilegious) Imagine if Mickey was the one guiding you through all your choices at the end. Imagine if you got a video at the end with Mickey telling all about Walt's dream of E.P.O.C.T. and then Mickey showed you what your future looked like. I would think this would be something that kids would want to walk away with at the end. (I'm sure there is a better idea for this, I am just spit balling here.) Like I said before, I really want old Epcot Center back. I feel like this is the only way to do it so that WDC can make more money and drive up attendance.
Having Mickey narrate Spaceship Earth is not going to drive up attendance or make the company more money...New experiences and attractions however will... Refreshing the existing attractions with 21st century technology and adding some new special effects and eye candy also helps...look at the difference between Test Track and Test Track 2.0... without adding characters and starting over from scratch they were able to update and refresh the pavilion...Same message, same basic attraction but beautifully enhanced... Why do we have to add characters to make it relevant? The original messages behind EPCOT Center are still relevant but need a refresh.
The Nemo and Friends redo of Seabase Alpha did nothing to further the narrative....they stopped it completely. And they could have been integrated into the experience rather then just trashing what the pavilion did well... what if you still learned about the formation of the Seas... and Nemo and Friends joined you at Seabase Alpha... Instead the experience no longer transports you to an undersea exploration center, but just takes you through a retelling of the movie, and then look it's an aquarium... sad.

I just tried to use that as a possible example. I wasn't sure it was the right thing to do, just trying to get my idea across. I am sure something better could be done that maintains what SSE is all about but add in some additional IP to help out is where I was going. That is exactly what you said down below with the retelling of Seabase Alpha.

I think that is what I was trying to say.

The big issue is that everyone got up in arms in the late 80s about Epcot Center. Nobody knew what it was suppose to do so Eisner changed it/dumbed it down to the fluster cluck we have now.

Spaceship Earth is a "Walk-On" because it's an Omnimover, one of the most efficient ride systems ever
So isn't the Haunted Mansion. That is almost never a walk on and no the two library rooms are not what hold up the line in HM.

By definition the libraries hold up the line. That's what they were designed for. You wait outside the exterior doors for the next room to become available. This holds up the line.

Of course then came Fast pass (again) to totally screw it up.

If the lines where removed, do you think it would be a walk on? I am thinking it would just fill the dead space (see what I did there?) between the outside doors and the end of the line

Test Track wait is no different then TT 1.0. The attraction has always been the Thrill. But, it is not really doing much about educating people about transportation as the old ride did, which is what Epcot is suppose to do. It shows people how to design a car with some displays about future projects. I love 2.0 better then 1.0, but WoM is better then both of them. Combined would make a great ride. Think Radiator Springs Racers : Animatronics, maybe even use the characters from cars, telling you about the future of transportation with a thrill ride at the end. Like I said, I am just trying to get old EC back while giving most guests what they came to WDW for in the first place.

I think Inside Out was designed to have an attraction involving it at Epcot. The movie is a bit reminiscent of Cranium Command.

It seems like Disney makes some IPs in movies for attractions. I think Big Hero 6 was designed in part in order to put an attraction about health at the Wonders of Life area or somewhere else at Epcot. Tangled seems to have been made in the hopes of putting an attraction at the Germany area at World Showcase. Frozen I think was similarly made for an attraction at the Norway area.

The movie Coco is probably also being made in a way so that it can be used in an attraction at the Mexico area at the World Showcase if Disney is happy with people's reception to it.

For a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction about energy the attraction might focus mostly on the Nova Corps because an important part of their concept in the comics apparently has to do with some concepts of 'energy'.

You really have the right idea about things. I hope they'll incorporate that into the theming of it. Hopefully it will apease some on here. It isn't likely though.

Remove the Cars characters from your idea and we're in business.

Epcot is very educational. I recently learned that the queen of Norway is named Elsa, and has magical ice powers.

Seriously, who here knew that? Americans are so ignernt.

I almost wish the cast held up the lines at the Mansion even longer before moving people into the stretch rooms, I hate that funneling like steer to the slaughterhouse or sands through an hourglass that takes place when 3+ stretch rooms of guests are all jammed into the switchback line.

I totally get what you mean... My example of Test Track was to illustrate updated effects and visuals without really changing the narrative of the ride... but yeah...we are on the same page...
