I don't.

Back to the thread: If Disney Parks were smart/they would of done a video with these two in a casual manner of what Pandora means to DAK, etc.
first when people say I despise Joe Rohde to me that's over the top..maybe you hate/despise people you don't know but i don't...the fact is we know very little even insiders know very little to whats going on

and I agree with your second comment....this video was not made for the public but it should have been...and it should have been done earlier..to me it was very informative and personal from Joe and Jon

like my favorite AD says "the public knows about 5% of whats going on."

Perhaps you miss the point of this forum. This is the NEWS and RUMORS forum. News in general gets a better response when it is sensational. Saying things are good just for the hell of it isn't very sensational. You should start a "Partners Statue is Beautiful" post and see how many people reply, or, if it gets moved to a different forum.

I'd be willing to bet that most people here are extremely passionate about the quality of the parks, and they want to keep it that way. That's why there is so much debate when Disney does something wrong. It huts that little thing inside us that says, "It could have been done better." And it hurts even more when we all come to the realization that "Universal is doing it better." That just gives us hope that someone at Disney will finally realize it, and one-up Universal. Hope is why we are here, and why we have passion in what we post. It's not all anti-Disney here like you suggest. At least, I don't see it.

I did not miss the point of this web site. If Disney does something wrong we should talk about it. The problem is that is not what is happening. Some are trashing everything Disney even before it is built. I do not agree "Universal is doing it better" and if I did I would stop going to Walt Disney World as much and go there more. If you look at Universal the way you look at Disney you would say something like Harry Potter Phase I was only one new ride and a make over. It so bad they are having to add a phase II. Now Universal wants me to buy a two park ticket just to see both phases. All Universal wants is more money.

I am pretty new here and I am seeing both sides of this argument about this forum. I enjoy when people challenge what Disney does and when they do it. It is interesting to see people's different points of views. I also like to hear about rumors, etc. However, it can be a bit much at times when 80% of what is posted on this board is negative and only 20% positive. When I first joined, I expected a bit more optimism and excitement about the future. Again, I get when others are upset when they do not like about what is occurring at WDW. Heck, some things bother me too and there are many directions I would rather see WDW go. But it seems for some...no change, no new attraction, no new land will ever be good enough.....so...there is only one thing to blame here...the internet! ;)

Many of use are fairly optimistic, but we don't show it. One of the more optimistic boards is the Imagineers threads and Disney Cruise line thread.

I despise Joe Rhode. I think he's a shallow hack who thinks he has "vision" when he doesn't. To his defense, I do understand he had internal pressures that I will never be aware of, but that doesn't make me any less sick when I hear him start talking about the "story" at Animal Kingdom. There is no story there. It's barely even a series of experiences. It's a terrible park that falls back on a preachy message as a crutch.

Whether that is Joe's fault or not, I'm not sure...but he certainly hasn't done anything to stop it.

I ran across his Twitter. Bluck.

As I read through a handful of his tweets I have to admit I have never seen anyone put the volume of hashtags in a single tweet like he does. Lordie. A few tweet of Rhodes and I was done. He really does adore himself.

Isn't that the point of twitter though. To inform the world what your doing everything second of your life.

I am looking forward to taking my first DCL Cruise this year if all goes well

You will definitely enjoy yourself! The service is awesome and be sure to not miss any of the shows. I have cruised with Princess and Royal Caribbean and in my opinion they did not compare to DCL. I was on the Fantasy back in 2012 for part of my honeymoon. We are doing a shorter cruise on the Dream in April.

Any movie fits DHS, it always seems to be the go to spot for an IP that has no home.

The underlying theme of Avatar (conservation, living in harmony with the land, etc) fits well into AK.

Interesting. I never walked away from AK with that impression. Even the original boat ride I had the misfortune of riding before it was extinct didn't have much to do with topics.

If conservation, harmony and the land is the point of the park, it was honestly lost on me. I always took the park as a park of various types of animals, old world to current. I've done conservation station twice in 16 years or so and it did little for me or the train ride. Even in 2012 when I did Conservation last I was disappointed in what a hole in the wall that area was. Getting there and out was a big block of time for what it offered.

I never came off Everest, the safari or dinosaurs with the feeling of conservation or harmony or living with the land.

Meh, me not so much. I do read enough Disney on twitter though. I'm sure you are right, the type A's like Rhode likely want to inform the world what he is doing every second of his life. I lost interest quickly. But he's comes off as the type of person you describe.

I consider myself to be fairly optimistic around here, but I've learned to pick my battles and also to attempt to listen to the other side of the argument. No point in constantly battling with people who aren't going to change their minds anyway. IMHO some of the negativity in this thread is probably based on the fact that original poster called the video "great". A lot of people feel they have a responsibility to offer a contrarian argument if they perceive someone to be too positive or "pixie dusted". I don't think that was the intent of the title, but it may have come across that way.

I do agree that there is a lot of unwarranted negativity around anything new that Disney tries to do. I have no problem bashing WDW for real issues or lack of show quality or lack of new attractions, but I get the feeling that some people treat this like a political debate where you always have to stick to your side and find a reason to bash the other side no matter what. If Avatar turns out to be really good there will be some who will find some flaws to point out.

One thing I find ironic is that a lot of people call for classic Disney dark rides based on Disney films instead of something like Avatar based on another franchise but then some of these same people have nothing but negative things to say about LM which is a classic dark ride based on a Disney film.

You can not say "that even Joe knows it". If he does feel that way, he sure is a great actor and hides it well. People like you that continue to make stuff up is ono of the reason that this web site is starting to get to me. Let's stick to the facts and things we know. I can say that I was disappointed with the Magic Kingdom's expansion so far because I have walk the area and went to the attractions. I looking forward to see what Disney does with Pandora and will judge it when it opens.
I can say that "even Joe knows it" because I've talked to him about it in person. It's people like me that bring facts and rumors that you wouldn't otherwise hear to this site, and if you have a problem with people like me, you're more than welcome to use that fabulous ignore button for anyone like me. I'm not telling you to judge Pandora before it opens, I'm asking that you just be willing to accept that the creator of the park may not be as happy about the entire project as you make him out to be.

bottom line is people want expansion to be what they want, the difference is accepting these expansions whether you like them or not...I don't have a problem at all with people s opinions...some of it comes across as silly or extreme, like" this will ruin DAK and I will never step foot inside DAK again" come on give me a break..its a theme park expansion..i m kind of old school I like to try something out before I call it a failure lol that's just me

something I wasn't a big fan of was springfield at universal..but I still enjoyed my lard lad dough nut and went about my day..it didn't ruin my day at universal

I agree. If someone has a negative opinion about Avatar that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I enjoy hearing other people's reasons for liking or disliking an idea. The only thing that bothers me a little is the extremes. People who can't admit that anything Disney does is wrong and on the flip side those that will never give credit where credit is due.
