Hitchcock comes to mind before Kubrick when I think of great filmmakers, but I understand why there is no Psycho scene.
My wife and I see exactly one problem with this ride... It had two creators. One was focused on Classic Genres, one was focused on current hit films.
The second creator likely got fired years ago... there are no "hit films" in 2014 that were "hit films" in 1978.
If this ride is not simply demolished.... it's about time to loose Mary Poppins, and replace her with a third genre film of 1928.
It's about time to ditch Indiana Jones - and replace it with "Adventure Films"
It's about time to loose Alien - and replace it with "Sci Fi Films of the '50s"
It's about time for Tarzan to just take a walk.
Gee - more space.... how about "Films by Disney"? You DO own the Park, right? Snow White? Cinderella? Pinocchio? Sleeping Beauty? Where are your CLASSICS?
This ride is VERY good - it could be far BETTER, if someone would focus on the GENRE of film, and loose the "what's hot in 1975" issue.
- why would you want a film from 1928? The ride only needs a nod to that era and nothing more, nothing from that period can compete for "greatest movies of all time"My wife and I see exactly one problem with this ride... They can replace Gene Kelly's singing in the rain segment with Malcom McDowell's.
That's the point. As much as I love Kubrick, his movies don't really have a place in TGMR.Ewww...Disturbing..
This. Well, I have no knowledge of how he treated actors or personnel, but 2001 made me want to stab my eyes out with a fork just so I wouldn't have to watch it anymore.
And the Alien bit should be replaced by Ghostbusters.
Again - I absolutely LOVE Mary Poppins... but she does not belong in 1928 - 1938 with Footlight Parade and Singing in the rain. Last time I looked, Disney OWNED this park - I strongly believe MP should exist, and go into the fairly LARGE "Disney Classics" room. Where is Snow White? Where is Pinocchio? Where is Sleeping Beauty? Where is Cinderella? I would love to see a really GOOD room that recognizes Walt...
I think the monolith scene from 2001 or the "I'm Spartacus!" scene from err... Spartacus are both good choices that could be nice additions to the attraction that could represent Kubrick. I wouldn't want to lose Alien for those scenes however. Footlight Parade or Fantasia I wouldn't miss though.

I've always thought it would be awesome to have an entire theme park with attractions for films such as Kong, Ghostbusters, or Psycho. Rather than a small jungle scene, could you imagine an entire ride-thru attraction of Kong attacking New York City? Have guests in trams of some sort, and make the attraction where they are in the heart of all the action; being stalked by Kong himself among all the wreckage. Instead of just the head & shoulders of Kong, use an entire AA figure of the beast hanging from a bridge, or better yet, make it appear as if he grabs the tram itself!
Ghostbusters & Psycho would make excellent opportunities for interactive 3D shows; putting guests into the stories themselves.
I know I'm just dreaming, but you never know, it could happen one day.
1. Universal owns the park rights to Ghostbusters and even had a live show that ran from 1990-1996
2. Hell no. Alien stays.
The Movie Ride isn't arranged chronologically, though.
I'm not too hot on the idea of changing things, BUT if we're throwing ideas around...
It would be kind of neat for the Tarzan room to somehow be changed into a representation of this scene from Bravehart:
There's probably not enough space to work with, but you could so some really interesting stuff with a really high-banked hill with lots of static or nearly-static soldier figures on the high side and an A-100 Mel Gibson figure on the other, down low. If they really wanted a showstopper the Gibson figure's horse would be on a rolling platform that would move back and forth in a trench. The horse's legs wouldn't be able to move, of course, but another row of static or nearly-static soldier figures could block the riders' view of the bottom half of the "horse" and the motion trench.
...then again, tying ones fortunes to Mel Gibson may not be the smartest course of action for any entertainment company these days...
Don't take that post seriously. It was a joke (that fell flat) referencing Universal Studios of yesteryear.
I would rather have them replace the tired stunt show and free up that valuable real estate for something better than replace that small scene.I like the idea of the monkeys/monolith scene. Replace the redundant Indiana Jones scene with that.
That was one of the first movies I saw with my wife. And yet still, I married her.Aw hale naw.
