It was pure torture. My mother basically kidnapped me for real. She said she was going to take Elise and I out to dinner and that we should just take one car to save gas (which I agreed to like a dumbass). Well, dinner was okay, but then they would NOT take me home. I was a prisioner in their car and they would not drive me back home.

I thought I was going to have a breakdown.

I'm actually not supposed to be here at work today either. It was supposed to be my only day off this week. I got a call at 6pm last night from the girl that was supposed to be here right now and she told me that she's got pink eye and a doctors note excusing her from all work until Wednesday.

And you love?

OY!

Let's see...Friday night I went to this club with some friends, Saturday night I had a Christmas Party to go to...and Sunday was just a lounging day...watched some football, cleaned the house...etc.

Good thing, I guess :lookaroun

Whoa

I wouldn't recommend doing that again Jenn. Had the test been positive you would have regretted that decision. Especially if your child ended up having life long learning issues as a result. Drinking even very small amounts of alcohol in the first trimester has shown to cause learning disabilities and other developmental problems. That would be a lot more stressful to deal with than the stress of testing. Chances are, one night of heavy drinking wouldn't have any major effects, but if it did you definitely would wish you could take it back. I'd highly suggest another form of "relaxation" next time!

Backstory: I give my parent's crap all the time because they're always "too busy" to do anything on my birthday...because it's so close to Christmas. I haven't even had a birthday cake since I was like 17 or 18 (from them.) It didn't start out that big of a deal...because, it's a birthday, who cares...but it's the way it always happens that bothers me. For instance, one year I was getting a system installed in my car...and they were supposed to pick me up at the store...they never came (even though they TOLD me they were on their way). Another year they really tried...they got some people together...but no cake...I blew out a half-used Yankee Candle. (Home Sweet Home if you were wondering  ). Last year the plan was to go down to WDW for my birthday. Well, I went...they cancelled about 2 weeks before.

So, this year arrives...

Saturday night I was at my parent's house...(Annual Christmas Party).

Now, the plan for my birthday (Wednesday) was...

Tina was taking me out to dinner and then we were going to see "Rocky Balboa" (I'm a huge Rocky fan...so I'm extremely excited for this one). (Knowing that they probably weren't planning anything).

Well, my mother said, "Why don't you come here after dinner and we'll have cake and stuff...and I'll have some people over." (Shocked...I of course said yes!)

I said, "That sounds great, we'll just see the movie on Thursday night instead."

So, I called up my friends (the ones that I was going to see the movie with) and changed the plans. Everything's fine and dandy.

I just received the call..."Bri, I'm going to have to cancel on Wednesday...I'm just too busy...if you wanna call me so we can sing to you...you can do that."

WHAT?!!??!?!

I HAVE TO CALL YOU?!?!?!?!?!

Should I be surprised? By now...No. But, like I said...it's the way it always happens. Of course, now 2 of my friends have already made plans for Wednesday night.

See, that's the thing... It doesn't REALLY bother me...that they don't do anything for my birthday...but to dangle the carrot in front of me and then pull it away...THAT is what bothers me.

The Disney one kinda did bother me...only because I've based my vacations around them for the past 2-3 years. (My sister, my mother, and my father...each year for the past 2-3 years have celebrated their birthdays in WDW). When it comes to my turn...everybody cancels aside from Tina and two of my close friends.

I know that this time of year is hectic...I know this. But don't have me change my plans or conform around your plans and then cancel them. I always go out of my way to make sure I see them...or take them out on their birthday...and I would never make plans to do something and then cancel (unless it was something serious).

I know..thtas what I meant...if they are not going to do it then don't say you will.
I hate when people do that..if you can't do something then fine but don't say you will and then back out.

The Disney thing does stink too..

Oh well I hope you enjoy your birthday anyway...:)

Well, I'm going tomorrow night...can you get up here in time?

Put it this way..if you make it up here, I'll buy you the ticket...and I'll even throw some treats in :)

Well, surprising you on your birthday sounds amazing. :D

Although, I don't know if Tina would like me being there, especially while you're giving me these "treats" :lookaroun

I'll go see Casino Royale with you again Michael!

Soooooooooo, what does my Brian want for his birthday? :drevil:

I want an official Red Ryder carbine-action, 200-shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stalk and this thing which tells time.

...hmm nevermind...I can already shoot your eye out.

How about peace on Earth and goodwill toward men?

Nah, too cliche.

I really don't want anything...it's just another day...but, you can surprise me :)
