Gay days

Maybe the OP could be more specific about what they consider inappropriate. It is Disney after all, what could be going on there that is so inappropriate? I am sure CM's would put an end to any type of inappropriate sexual situations between any two people regardless of sexual preference. I have never heard any rumors that would suggest Disney is not an appropriate place to take a child during this week.

There have been reports of groping, drug use, nudity, adult toys, things like that. I've never witnessed such things myself, but that's what's out there that might cause concern. I think any reasonable person would agree that such things are vulgar and inappropriate if they happened, but we seem to have reached a consensus that they don't happen.

To be fair, I have witnessed nudity, groping and I suspect drug (marijuana at least) use at WDW, but all from heterosexual people.

I'm just puzzled that anyone would think that the streets of the Magic Kingdom would suddenly turn into the West Village during the Halloween parade (now THAT'S a wild, fun time). It's still Disney, folks...
Disney's pretty freaking gay even when it's not gay days. If it isn't the West Village, West Hollywood, South Beach, The Castro, or any other gay mecca by now, it never will be.

I don't mind being around gay people at all. My question is will the specified park for gay days really be crowded? I mean is it a big draw? If it is i might avoid the parks that have the gay days because of crowd levels not because of being around gays.

I'd stay away from the Magic Kingdom on the designated day (Saturday I think). Other than that, I wouldn't let it mess with your itinerary.

I think this is really being blown out of proportion. Answer the op's question without assuming he is a homophobe. Refrain from sarcastic remarks and crude jokes. If you can't answer the question in a constructive manner, then don't post.

OP- try a thread search or even a Google search.

NO ONE accused anyone of anything. Just one poster jumped the gun and ASSUMED that someone would call them such, and like a game of telephone it begins.

That said, Disney is one of the gayest places in the universe, bar none. There are more gay people at WDW in some areas than straight people some days. Disney was one of the very first (if not the first) large corporation to offer benefits to non-heterosexual families way back in the 1990's. Disney loves gays. Gays love Disney. It would sort of be like asking, "Do you think there will be any homosexuals at a Barbara Streisand concert?" ;-)

In particular, on these days, you will see a lot of gay people in certain colored shirts (I had to laugh at the last thread, when a woman said her husband wore a red shirt that day, and made them stop, leave the park, go all the way back to the hotel to change LOL). Just like any group day at a park, it will be busy.

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't there an episode of King Of Queens, where something similar happened to Kevin James & his brother at an amusement park? I was in stitches.

I think it's a fair question considering some of the more risque things people see on the news from gay events in new orleans and san fran that would not be appropriate for kids. Disney gay days are not like that. You should have no problem taking your kids. Of course you cannot guarantee that your kids won't see something inappropriate but I don't think the fact that it's gay days will increase the chances.

Now at Universal/Citywalk I have seen some things that I would not want to expose to children (men in thongs and leggings lol). I could care less but I wouldn't want my kids to see anyone male or female walking around in a thong lol.

The same could be said for 99% of what is talked about in this forum.

Exactly.

Some people just don't accept the fact that others may not spend 90% of their lives on message boards.

There are actually newbies who don't know all these answers, and the original question was a valid one.

Bingo.

Google "Flash Mountain" and tell me who the main offenders are.

Please - How many photos of out how many millions that have been taken over the years?

You must visit Disney World at a different time of year than I do. I've never seen anyone using drugs. I've seen the occasional teenage couple making out a bit, but nothing that would raise eyebrows.

The same way they take care of people smoking in non-designated areas and idiots taking flash photos on dark rides?

That's why the "search" function was added to most websites starting about fifteen years ago. ;)

And one wonders if it would be considered as "valid" if someone made a post asking about a day when a religious group would was planning a meet; if someone didn't want their kids potentially exposed to that type of person, you know what I mean?

I thought the two were linked at WDW, I seem to recall when we stayed offsite in 98, unaware of "Gay Day" having to run a gauntlet of placard waving funda- mentalists, proclaiming we were hell bound and various words of hate and intolerance. Odd given the supposed teachings of their faith.

My family and I avoid Disney World and other local attractions during Gay days and I'll explain why...First off, we are Orlando locals...My wife and I brought my Brother and his wife to the California Grill for an evening of dining and fireworks veiwing several years back. We were one table seperated from the window for the fireworks viewing. Just before the show began a group of gay guys lined up at the window just in front of us. One of them was rather large and blocking the view of several of his "buddies" so he was asked to get down. That's when my brother and I lost it. His reply was, and I quote, "Oh Alright...I spend most of my time down here anyway," BLAH!!!!! Check please!!!!!!!!
Since that occasion, as I stated, when gay days come around, my family and I avoid all the local attractions till this event is over.

Hm...

To be clear, I have a grand total of zero problems with gay employees, guests, or events at WDW. It wouldn't make a drop of difference to me if Gay Days became an officially sanctioned event. What I don't like is that a concerned father is labeled a "homophobe" because he holds an opinion that is different than yours.

Happens alot around here when this topic comes up. People will talk about being "tolerant" and accepting of others, but in the same post, they will call names and belittle those who hold the other opinion. Apparently, "tolerance" and acceptance only applies to those who share the same beliefs. Not much tolerance/acceptance for those who have a contrary opinion.

Best post on this thread. And sadly, true.
