I am sure Disney is diligent about stopping ANY inappropriate behavior in the presence of other guests - whether it be of a straight or gay nature. If you find two people kissing or holding hands offensive for your children to see - I would also advise against seeing most Disney movies. If it is only gays kissing or holding hands that is offensive, then yes, that is a prejudice, so it probably would not be a good weekend to go.

I think the OP was just seeking some clarity about what to expect. And let me say, to them, go and and have fun! If you want to avoid some of the extra crowds, just don't pick the parks that are going to be the focal for gathering each day. I would worry more about going to DHS though the weekends, can only imagine what type of people show up for Star Wars Weekend!
Ps-
Thats a joke, I love star wars and will BE one of those people lol....

There are gay-themed (among other) parades or other public events in some cities that aren't always appropriate for young kids. So the OP was asking a fair question. By nearly all accounts Gay Days at WDW isn't inappropriate for young kids. So the question has been answered.

The OP brings up some honest concerns. Think about it. What if a gay guy just happens to lose track of his purse full of ______ toys and a small child happens upon it and ends up choking on something?

These are the kind of things we need to watch out for in this post 9/11 world.

It may be a fair question, but all answers and debate could be taken care of with a 5 second search. This topic has been beat to death in countless threads.

Gay Days. It's like any other busy summer day at WDW, except that the crowds will be more polite.

That's it.

Oh, and you might see the entertainment CM's stepping up their skills a notch.

For those of you that have been to WDW during this event, do I need to be aware of anything? I've heard a range of things that go on during this week and I'm starting to worry for the sake of my small children. Any report will be appreciated.

Wow, abbreviations and Gay Day threads on the same day. What are the odds?

And as for a "range of things", perhaps the only range you will see is in the differing shades of red being worn around the parks. Other than that, you'll be fine......

I've been there during this event several times. Never saw anything done by a same-gender couple that I don't see opposite gender couples do every day at Disney. And same-gender couples appeared to do things that surprised me with roughly the same frequency that opposite gender couples do those things. While I've heard some assert that same-gender couples are less discrete than opposite-gender couples, my experience belies that.

So, to figure out if there is anything incremental about Gay Days that you might worry about (beyond what you'd worry about your kids seeing any other day), think about the things you see opposite gender couples do in the parks and other public spaces, and consider whether you would be worried if your kids saw a same-gender couple doing those things.

I love that you can say whatever you want, regardless of how offensive, just because you happen to be on a certain side in the issue.
