Does anyone have any ideas for Australia at Animal Kingdom?

Personally I've never understood the appeal of the area, so I'm wondering what everyone else is picturing.

What about going with a tribal aboriginal type area? Koalas, New Areas for Kangaroos and Wallabies, maybe some other things, (I'm not too familiar with Australia).

Oh now this is a topic I love!

So where I live is not somewhere that belongs in a disney park. It is just your average city, like new york or chicago. If there were to be an Australia area there would only be one way to do it. A Crocodile Dundee type town which is found (rarely) in Darwin, Northern Territory.

The area would need to also include a lot of Aboriginal influence, with attractions based on dreamtime stories. Now these things belong in AK! There is basically an aboriginal story for everything and how it came to be. One of my favourites is how the kangaroo got it's tail (apparently a hunter through a spear at it's and it got away).

So here is how I'm seeing it. Guests will begin their journey by crossing a bridge over croc creek. This creek is filled with real crocs, so don't be shaking the bridge. Guests will be able to board a boat and cruise down the creek. Guests then enter the town. Here they can eat and watch some footy at the pub, look at the handcrafted items in the gift shop, take a geez at some old aussie cars in the garage then learn some aussie history in the museum. Once they get bored of all that they can take a ride on "Outback Adventure" a new E-Ticket. Not sure exactly how it would work but it would take guests on a Jeep into every part of the australian outback where they can see Kangaroos, Koalas, Snakes and all those other animals you americans think we have in our backyards ;) After you're ride, take a stroll down the Dreamtime Trail. This trail weaves in and around Dingo Point, a large rock structure overlooking the area. The trail will use special effects in indoor cave ares to tell the Dreamtime stories. Guests will be able to get closer with the aussie animals on this trail. Each animal exhibit will tell the story of the Aborigines. At the end of the Trail, guests can enter a 4D show (used for immersion and not cheap gags) that focuses on Australian animals from an aboriginals point of view. Now to end the night, guests will all gather in town and watch as fireworks, lighting and projections bring Dingo Point to life in a show celebrating Australian animals and culture!

Well there's my idea ;)

I love the feel of your area! Pretty Much perfect! Not sure if you could do fireworks, but if there ever were to be an Australia Area, I think you pretty much nailed it!

Post-2015 (Harry Potter Phase 2, Transformers, JP, Amber Mine Coaster, and Simpsons expansion have been already built), what would you do to the Universal parks to improve them?

I would:

a) Change up the queues of the USF attractions and remove the TV screens and fake cameras except the ones that are in Production Central. They shouldn't really feel like you're in a movie set, for example in the Mummy the queue shouldn't have cameras it should immerse you into an Egyptian Museum.

b) Add a Grinch family coaster to IoA

c) Add a Rocky and Bullwinkle dark-ride

d) Fix the outdoor portion of the Spiderman queue, it's horrendous.

e) Improve KidZone, and re-name KidZone. Take out Fievel, Curious George, Barney, and Animal Actors. Refurbish ET Adventure, add a Spongebob boating school ride like the Speedway, and move Shrek 3D

f) Give a mini-land dedicated to Universal's classic movie monsters replacing Fear Factor Live. With Monsters Café relocated, a ride through classic horror movies, and House of Horrors

I agree with #1-3, and I'd also add a kid zone, but also completely theme it to spongebob, which would mean bye bye et. I have a lot of ideas for a spongebob land in a thread I posted about a couple months ago, including a boating school ride like the one turtle mentioned. I've never been to uni, so I don't know much about what I could add!

a) Mummy takes place on the film set, that's the story. "The Curse! It's real! This whole place is a trap!" Unless you are planning on changing the whole story...

b) There are already rumors about a Mr. Crumpet roller coaster, but they have somewhat been shoved aside since....

c) There is the possibility of a Lorax themed ride, since the movie did very well. So if there's a new dark ride, it'll probably be that.

d) Kidzone expansion is obviously necessary so good idea there. Moving shrek is pointless, but the rest needs to go. Definitely refurbish ET, Expand Spongebob presence, but focus on Dreamworks and Universal animated movies for this area.

f) As much as I would love a new area with the Universal Monsters, you can't get rid of the Fear Factor stadium for one reason: Bill and Ted.

------------------------------------

Honestly, Once one more ride opens in Islands (Mt. Crumpet, JP Ride, Lorax, Or whatever it may be) and the current USF expansions are done (Tranformers, Diagon Ally, Simpsons, ETC) I would focus on the experiencial issues.

The food service at both parks need complete overhauls, especially the quick service. Live Entertainment needs work too, Animal Actors, Beetlejuice, Sindbad, all of that needs to be re-imagined.
