MK block lifted until Aug 8th.

At this rate it's a fairly safe bet they'll lift the rest. Maybe they were expecting worse crowds than they got? It certainly doesn't feel like it is any quieter than in years past.

It can't get much worse.... Thanks for the heads up.

It's becoming a trend. Just wait until Friday, then they'll just lift it week by week.

Not sure if you have this on your list, but I did notice 10/10, 10/17 and 10/24 are all blocked out for Epcot in October. I hadn't notice Epcot with anything for October until the full calendars rolled over this weekend.

It's kind of an ugly trend… Waiting to the absolute last minute to look at the black out. That means there is no way of family could come to visit on that little notice.

And Epcot had weekends blacked out last year during food and wine.

Wow that is a sleazy management trick.

Side note : when blackout was lifted last week, we spent $90 at the park in one day.

When it has been in effect all summer, we did things like swimming at the pool, going out to lunch , drive to the beach.....

Honestly, we probably would have spent well over $400 at MK this summer if not for the blackout. Not to mention an extra $200 or so on resort dinners and breakfasts. DHS and Epcot, we are virtually ready to go before entering the park. No reason to shop or dine there in that short of time. Nor is there reason to make a full day of it. The longest Disney day we had all summer was the day we did Everest 6 times.

Now, summer is over. We may get out to MK one more time if it lifts next week before school starts. But honestly, it really is the only full day park. Although the food selection is lacking, we always eat at least one meal in park when visiting. Rarely at any of the other parks.

Does the whole month of October really need to be blocked out? I'm assuming they will lift them at the last minute..
They might actually be more accurate with thinking October is going to busier than it has been in years past. Halloween night's MNSSHP sold out 3 weeks earlier than last year. It is on a Saturday so that boosts the turn out a bit from locals but last year Halloween was on a Friday. 1 week earlier sell out: sure - but 3 is an offly big jump start.

They probably will lift some of those dates in early October but the last 2 weeks will likely stay.

__
And as a total aside: out of curiosity I brought up this topic with a few CM friends with families. 2 families said it stinks/they were annoyed, 2 said they avoid the parks in the Summer/until November-ish, 1 said you "couldn't pay me enough" to take her family this time of year, and 1 said he just works around it.

Again, we're talking 2-5% of the daily audience at most.

109 days out of the year. Ridiculous.

Here they go again. A cast member friend just found that once again MK lifted the main gate block out again only a few days before the date is here. Just lifted Aug 16 - 22 pretty much with same number of days notice as the earlier August weeks. Either WDW really has incompetent people doing the attendance forecast or it is just a way to take more "benefits" away from their employees but letting the record show it was "really available". Good luck to anyone wanting to plan a family get together. Shame on WDW.

Or are they lifting blackout after a preset full paying gate attendance number is reached? Once PCGS is set, then they let in the non gate paying guests.

If PCGS does not reach target, non gate payers are not let in thus eliminating dilution of already anemic PCGS.
