The Epcot Manifesto
I know it's hard to believe this, but there was a time in the Disney company when there was more to what they did than making money. Sure, making money was a very important factor, but they strove to do more than that. You guys seem to be. It's apparently supposed to be some kind of cross between community college and the local science center.
And as many people have pointed out, they never had a problem making money in the park.
Now, they have to have festivals that take up nearly 1/3 of the year in order to draw people in and keep them spending money. Food and Wine, Garden Festival, Candlelight Processional. Upcharge events.
If one believes the TEA numbers (I know, big IF), EPCOT's growth last year was the smallest of all major parks in Orlando not called SeaWorld. It grew well under every other park. And this is with 120 days of the year being "special events" that are meant to draw in extra crowds.
