Frozen ride replacing Maelstrom?

And you're the one with the Muppets fixation, dude. Two words for you: Lady Gaga. :hilarious:
I like the Muppets (strongly dislike the special). But whenever somebody brings them up, or at least used to (I took a break from the site), you'd get very militant saying those "creatures" shouldn't be anywhere in the parks, etc. :p

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Eh. I'm going to disagree with you on that for two reasons. One, I never felt that the film it was based on was all that great. Two, it's basically, "Stairs- The Attraction". Disneyland gets Tarzan, we get the 50 year old movie with Moochie.
First of all, the film doesn't have to be great (although it was) for the attraction to be great.
The treehouse is brilliant in its simplicity. Tarzan overlay - that's a big no thank you.

I can't imagine there isn't a single mother who hasn't dreamed of living on a deserted island in just such a treehouse. Call me when the kids are married and out of the house. I'm living large in my treehouse getaway.

You could go and fill the gap between NFE and the RR tracks but I think that parcel would need to go through the wetlands swap process
yes, that space is certainly conceivable, but it would require an elevated walkway over the access road to get there (you could do a path from between TLM and the circus).

Tarzan is awesome. Manly, two-fisted hero of the jungle.
I'm a little older than you.

As a kid, t.v. reception was confined to 12 channels (one of which was French), so t.v. pickings were pretty slim, especially on Sunday afternoons after church. I have seen every Tarzan movie (and Godzilla, and Sinbad) at least a dozen times.

I used to hope that Jane would die, so I could marry Tarzan.

When we were last on Kilimanjaro Safaris, I couldn't see the cheetah our guide pointed out because I was looking for a chimp. I kid you not! I loved Tarzan.

All that being said ... I'll keep Swiss Family Robinson treehouse thanks.

The problem with Tarzan was in the execution. It became less about imagining yourself in the space and more about being a sort of walkthrough Fantasyland dark ride with those static figures.

I'd love to see a version of the Tarzan Treehouse a little more like the Swiss Family version that features trophies and objects from other Tarzan stories like the stuff DIsney adapted in that Legend of Tarzan television series.

Some folks here are determined to keep the east and west coast offerings different.

Let them keep their Tarzan treehouse. Plus it, if necessary.
And we'll keep, SFR, in all its simplistic brilliance.

I accept that there are people who don't like the Muppets. Those people just need someone to believe in them and they'll come around.

Dude...the guy's funeral? Really? Okay, a few pages back, you made me laugh. What are you trying to do now - make me cry? Or possibly, throw up?

How exactly does an ice castle fit thematically on the border between Future World and World Showcase?

I didn't say it does....but in my opinion future world will never be future world again ...sad but true

Would much rather see this at DHS along with SOMETHING(s) else

They should bring back the Muppet show in modern times.... it can be really funny...some adult humor and mannerisms like the old days...all can enjoy. This would only help the movies and attraction/future attractions too

The Epcot Manifesto
As George Takei might say "Oh My!!!" This thread is becoming a perfect storm for me. A thread where I can bash the current state of Epcot and now we're talking about the Muppets somehow!!! Quick, someone make a request to add a Doctor Who ride to the UK and I'm in my personal nirvana!

Wait, did I just make that request? UK needs a Doctor Who ride, where I can enter a TARDIS, get wooshed off to all sorts of different times that the Doctor has visited throughout the past/present/future of the UK. There. Now we're cooking with gas.

Back to the OT. I saw Frozen again this weekend. The more I think of it, the less I see it as a ride that is supposed to represent Norway. Sure, you have the kingdom, and it's inspiration from the city of Bergen in Norway. Then, for the majority of the movie, you have a backdrop of mostly generic icy fields and mountains. The location really doesn't play a large factor in the movie, so I see it even less of a good fit here in this pavilion. There could be a wonderful dark ride built from Frozen, just not in Norway. I can't help feeling that it'd turn out to just shoving Ellen into dinosaur times just because they didn't want to spend the money to change up that attraction. Frozen is a great film, great visuals, great music, great characters. If they are going to make something of this, let it be it's own thing, not trying to tie it into an existing concept (Norway) where the relationship is inspirational at best.

I still think that this lends itself better to a stage show, or as I think was much better of a suggestion, let Frozen take over Blizzard Beach. That right there seems like the perfect fit.

the fact that Frozen is Disney studios biggest hit behind Lion King
...as of today, Frozen (#1 at the box-office again) will exceed even the almighty Lion King...
Furthermore, foreign box office has been equally impressive with the biggest start ever for a Disney OR Pixar Animation movie.
Although I don't mind Disney adding 'character' to the World Showcase travelogues. And anyone who characterizes these blatant advertisements to visit each country as "classic" Disney attractions is simply nuts, however, somehow turning a (short) water based ride (Maelstron) into a winter ice sled ride would be stupid because it would probably cost more money to strip out the old ride, then pigeonhole a new ride into the existing space which obviously couldn't accommodate any fast sled attraction. So building a new Frozen mountain BEHIND the pavilion would make much more sense. And although we would all prefer that the new princess go into the Magic Kingdom, it is already a park at capacity and Epcot could use the boost.
I do, however, think that the idea I read earlier about rebuilding It's A Small World within the World Showcase so that that building could be converted into a Tangled attraction was brilliant...Tangled was an amazingly excellent film with amazing music (that should have won the Grammy) and deserves more than a bathroom and a tower.

Turtle does bring up those musty old bits of felt quite often. I think he's obsessed. :cautious:
