Frozen ride replacing Maelstrom?

I think MK is the one and only theme park that should incorporate this ride. Remember, NFL was done for some reason.

Besides, who says the NFL expansion is over and done? After all, Disney had no idea, when it started planning NFL, that a new Disney animated film would take the world by storm. Now it has. And now Disney has even more incentive to keep expanding NFL. If TDO really wants a Potter-swatter, it's got one in Frozen. But it has to be SMART about it and NOT nickel-and-dime it. It has to get gutsy and ambitious and very creative. And wouldn't it be nice to see TDO act like Walt's Imagineers used to act? To offer something exciting and innovative and one-of-a-kind, and not just slap a cheapass veneer on an existing ride?

You still got moxie, TDO? Here's your chance to prove it.

I say all the resorts should share the cost to get this ride built EVERYWHERE (DL, MK, TDL, DLP, HKDL and maybe even the first new ride for Shanghai) and have it open worldwide at the same time. Would truly be a great way to bring the #1 animated movie of all time to the parks.

Or they could just make it a massive global, teleconferenced Karaoke session of thousands of fanboys singing "Let It Go"

NFL is done, theres no room without doing a major change or expansion behind it etc and they sure arent going to be doing that or changing the infrastructure there etc. Sure storybook circus is a scenario but they arent going to touch that since it just opened.

Remove some tents. Remember, Frozen is a golden mine.

Check out the spirits new thread, its official Maelstrom will get a cheap rushed frozen overlay, but Norway will remain Norway....Sounds like same imagineer who was in charge of gran fiesta is in charge of frozen maelstrom....my viking ship is sinking for sure now!!!

Yetis aren't from Switzerland either, right? From the Himalayas. As Jamie Lee Curtis said (in Trading Places, not Ellen's Energy Adventure), "Ja, from Sweden, for sure."
I read an interview with the head of tourism from Innovation Norway on NPR's website. Apparently the Norwegians thought the shop owner in Frozen (can't remember his name. ..) was supposed to be German. Awesome, Disney.

from spirits post:
Frozen at EPCOT. That is what has you all hot and bothered right? Well, it is coming to the ride formally known as the Maelstrom. It will be a rush job. I don't normally name sources but here I flat out will since my second source confirmed it to an audience of maybe 150 people during an onboard presentation on the Disney Wonder.

George Scribner, animator and Imagineer (for those who don't know his pedigree he directed 1988's Disney animated feature Oliver and Company, did background work on films including the Lion Ling, Dinosaur and Fantasia 2000 and was the director of Mickey's PhilharMagic and The Gran Fiesta Tour at WDW and also was responsible for TDS's Magic Lamp Theater film) confirmed that WDI is working on a redo of the ride with a Frozen overlay. BTW, his sister in law, Amy, was one of Frozen's producers.

Now, I don't think WDI wanted him leaking this to an audience of largely Disney geeks in the middle of the Pacific. But someone asked him about criticism over changing a classic EPCOT attraction by adding toons and he got a bit of that famous WDI 'we are smarter and better than our audience' 'tude and it sorta slipped out. I am not sure he had any intention of saying what he did, but he did.

Specifics? This is a Maelstrom redo, not a new Norway pavilion. I expect it to be cheaply executed. The biggest cost will be in redoing the finale scene as every other current scene can be (and looks like it will be) worked into a new attraction. The question is how far Disney will go in the queue and unload and whether the rumoured Olaf narrates a tour of today's Norway film will actually happen or not.

Darn it, just tear the whole Norway down and leave the 1982 bathrooms and food place intact! Even that princess castle too needs to be torn down. Call it Frozen pavilion. Nothing is untouchable anymore at Epcot theme park, if they can alter Communicore and Imagination they can do the same to Norway. I mean it's from 1988! Tear it down!

I would think it's facetious...lol Well look at it this way, at least it is a character overlay that makes a bit of thematic sense...it could have been Goofy's Norwegian Adventure, or Pillage Along With Mickey, A Viking Adventure.

True as long its not where's olaf, since its the same imagineer at the helm as gran fiesta. We already have wheres donald, wheres nemo, please Disney make this a tour of Norway with the frozen characters not some stupid storyline.
