Heck, I am usually one of the first people to say "Wait until the attraction is done" before criticizing it but this just seems like such a bad idea from the start that I am having trouble letting it go.

That's why you put it in a purpose built environment. Not cheaply shoehorn it into an existing area that has nothing to do with it.
Indeed. Hell, they way they were emphasizing Marc Davis's Enchanted Snow Palace as an inspiration point on the Blu-Ray, it'd be a crime to not just get a Frozen variation of that with all the bells and whistles.

What Norwegian is sung? Is that what the "na-na-na hey-ya na" during the opening titles is? I understand a little Norwegian and that doesn't sound like Norwegian.
This was pages ago, but here you go. Just trying to help... it is in there.

Heimr Àrnadalr - coronation hymn.

quote from http://www.fanpop.com/clubs/elsa-and-anna/articles/229688/title/frozen-heimr-arnadalr-lyrics

"Old Norse:
Verðug dróttning stór
Hjarta af gulli skína
Kronum þik med vánum, ást ok trú.
Fagra, grýttur land, heimr Árnadalr.
Fylgið dróttningu ljóssins.

English Translation:
Worthy Queen of greatness
The heart of Gold shines
We crown thee with hope, love and faith.
Beautiful, stoney land, home Arendelle
Follow the Queen of light

This is official Old Norse lyrics and English translations of “Heimr Àrnadalr” which was sung by the choir at Queen Elsa coronation ceremony. It was composed by Norwegian-Swedish film composer Christine Hals, she also sung kulning parts which is presented in several soundtrack songs of Frozen"

Because it doesn't belong there. It will be a nightmare when/if this is done. The lines will probably be much longer than they were for the M&G and I'm sure it would even spill out of the pavilion. They should take their time and build a new ride designed for Frozen and the crowds it would attract in Magic Kingdom.

MK is the last park that needs additional attractions/more crowds. EPCOT and HS need it.

Epcot could get new/updated rides that actually fit the themes of Future World and World Showcase and DHS could finally get expansions for Pixar and Star Wars (maybe even a Frozen show to replace LM or B&tB). There's plenty they could do with those parks while putting a Frozen ride in Fantasyland where it belongs, they just want to take the cheap way out.

Sure there is. But don't expect anything at MK for a very long time. The other parks need attention first and I hope they rightfully recieve it.

There's no reason they couldn't build the ride at the same time they're updating the other parks. But sadly you're right, MK will most likely sit for years with no additions while TDO sits thinking it's "good enough" after NFL, ignoring that TL could use a nice refresh as well.

You are completely right --- but Hollywood Studios needs another attraction or 3. And Epcot needs a redo for almost every attraction. I'm perfectly okay with them forgetting about MK until they fix the others....but as we know, this might take us into 2020's --- wow.

So give the Frozen crowd a ride they will like but eliminate a true classic (one that fits the actual purpose WS and EPCOT). Its a lateral move at best, not progress. But hey, EPCOT wasnt supposed to be about progress and forward thinking...oh wait
It's not even a lateral move. The "Frozen crowd" is getting screwed out of a full blown ride which the film deserves. The EPCOT purists get screwed out of a true classic while WS is cheapened again and moves further from its purpose. The poor Norwegians lose a ride showcasing their actual culture and get what will likely be an overlay of cartoon characters including a talking snowman. Disney probably makes some extra money on merchandise sales and gets help marketing EPCOT to families with small kids. They are the only ones with upside here.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Except we haven't even seen what the proposed overlay entails and have no idea if it will be poorly executed or not.

That's a fair point. The biggest drawback to Maelstrom is that it is too short. It's not very likely that they will expand the show building to make the ride longer. Even if the overlay has nice AAs there is no way the ride can have much of a story since it will be too short. So we don't now if the overlay will be poorly executed, but the idea seems poorly conceived. Fantastic execution of a bad idea is still going to leave us wanting more.

I don't like the idea of it going into Norway and replacing Maelstrom. Not one bit. BUT will I ride it? Yes. There's not many attractions in World Showcase.

I've not caught up with everything yet but as a SWISS guy living in Switzerland I'm more than offended that they want to change the Yeti in Matterhorn in Anaheim.

Norway is not Switzerland.

Yetis aren't from Switzerland either, right? From the Himalayas. As Jamie Lee Curtis said (in Trading Places, not Ellen's Energy Adventure), "Ja, from Sweden, for sure."

Thanks. I couldn't understand what choir singers were singing if it were English. I did notice that the proclamation by the bishop sounded Nordic but not Norwegian. Probably Old Norse as well.
