They did in Tokyo Disneyland.

While they're at it, they should add several more characters, many of whom have also been added to Tokyo's Small World, including Merida (in Scotland (there's a big empty spot there where she can go)), Miguel, Dante and Hector (in Mexico (maybe along the floor of the ride below the volcanoes)), and Moana (on the one boat in Oceania (which would have the Maui tattoo on the sail)). Also, they should replace the bland farmland area of the U.S. (which I think was simply added as an excuse to do "Toy Story" characters) with a swamp/bayou and put Tiana and Naveen on a riverboat there (with Louis the Alligator in the water playing his trumpet).

You think Disney would just take the lazy route and build a clone of Frozen Ever After somewhere in Disneyland?

I'm not sure how they can do that without contending with the monorail track.

Nah, I'm over the characters.

Granted, some are better integrated than others, but Woody and Jessie in the America scene and some of the other ones are just cringeworthy.

And it changes the focus of the ride from world peace to Where's Jasmine?

The fact that they DID NOT take the easy opportunity to hype up the addition of characters to IASW in the Behind the Attractions series suggests that at least someone of importance also regrets adding the characters and doesn't feel confident in crowing about how their addition made the attraction MORE DISNEY.

Occasionally WDW being cheap saves them from questionable "enhancements" and this is very much one of those times IMO.

Not that I would say they're above doing so, but the original rumor for Frozen at Disneyland had guests riding in trackless vehicles modeled as sleighs. I presume such a ride would have a smaller footprint than a boat based attraction as well, making it better suited to the old Motorboat Cruise area.

Agree wholeheartedly. Off the top of my head, Alice, Cinderella, Pinocchio, and the Three Caballeros are all very tastefully integrated into their scenes; the Little Mermaid less so (she more or less is the entirety of her scene, if I recall correctly).

But man, that USA scene! So bad! Not just Woody and Jessie, but the entire execution -- there's no depth, minimal detail...

Okay, just pulled up a POV. Apologies for the tangent...

Here's Mexico.

What happened?!

On the bright side, the finale is so delightful that any memory of the America scene fades away almost instantly.

Mexico also has some Central America countries in the Market Place section.

The Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye in "it's a small world" are so ugly-looking. Surely they could've adapted them into the ride's style better than that.
Second take: I actually have a better theory now:

- Woody and Jessie are technically adult characters.
- All the few adults in Small World are depicted as toys.
-Woody and Jessie are already toys.
- They can’t be dropped in “as is” and they can’t be presented as Mary Blair children.
- This was the solution: Toys become more abstract toys.

While their appearance and very presence are a bit weird, I’d say Jessie and Woody are actually among the better elements of the America scene. That’s how bad the rest of it is, IMO.

Like, the spotlights and palm trees at the end are supposed to represent Hollywood? Why?? What on earth?

Yeah, as I typed “Mexico” I was kind of wondering if I was getting that wrong.

Unlike with Pirates or Mansion, I’m far from familiar with every scene and detail on Small World — and I kind of like it that way (always something new to notice every time I ride). But yeah, I can’t recall, is there an official designation for that room? Does the sign at the entrance specify Mexico or does it just say like “Hola”? Questions I could easily answer myself via a POV…

Do you happen to know which other countries/cultures are represented?

They probably looked at a graph that told them Hollywood, Farmlands and The Wild West are the 3 most iconically American themes to the rest of the world, and they bulldozed merrily ahead

They seem to have based it on the DLP version's style for whatever reason, the Mary Blair style was probably too expensive to replicate or maybe they thought it was too "outdated". Not realizing what they made looked bad from day 1. lol

Yeah but it's a small kiddie attraction, I look at it like a merry go round or a spinner and they have multiple different themed ones in the parks

For the Latin America room:

Left side is South America:
Argentina (which may or may not be represented by penguins, which is h I l a r I o u s because that country is...not liked by a lot of the rest of Latin Americans), Chile (although there's some arguments if the gauchos are Chilean or Argentine or Uruguayan), Bolivia and Perú (both share Lake Titicaca, along with with other folks on the lower sections of the mountain), Brazil (which has a lot of Afro-Brazilian representation, which makes me 🥺). Thr Andes Mountains also run through
Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, etc (so I don't know if those can say they're "officially" represented or not).

Right side is predominantly Mexico, with Salitto textile patterns, ranchers style costumes. But there are some costumes thay look like El Salvador and Guatemala. I am not confident enough to say there are others, but I definitely recognize that side as being not all Mexico. If I can be honest, they might have even kept that side vague because Central America has so many problems with each other (and I am not even joking, if you had put Hondurin there, IASW would get burned down)
