Frozen at Disney's Hollywood Studios for the summer?

They sold it as such, with billboards and what-not. And it had 60 - 90 minute waits when it opened. But yeah, I should've put E-ticket in quotes.

Agreed the park needs more rides--Atlantis also needs a complete refurb, and the simulator at Wild Arctic could stand an upgrade as well. Honestly, I think the best thing for it would be to be bought by a more experienced park operator.
Well, if anything, Sea World does do a good job of getting people to come out for these attractions when they open. Antarctica had 4 hour lines I believe when it opened.

The problem is, people aren't coming back.

I definitely agree they could stand to be bought out by a more experienced park operator. I would love it if Cedar Fair swooped in and took over. Matt Ouimet seems to have a passion about his parks.

Maybe not a Frozen "land" at DHS (I still think Pixar movies need such an area or at least Carsland…) but a ride with something else adjacent - a play area for the kids similar to the Honey I Shrunk the Kids area at DHS would be nice. And put Olaf in it - the way they did with Crush in EPCOT. DHS needs something else to get little kids there besides the Toy Story ride and the Disney Junior on stage.

Which is why I say that Pixar Place needs to cast off Jack Sparrow and the Little Mermaid and become a TRUE Pixar Place.

And forget Carsland. It was done well at California, and to bring it to Florida would be boring and uninspired.

Uh... Little Mermaid isn't IN Pixar Place. It's over by the Animation Courtyard. Unless you're suggesting that everything from Pixar Place down to the Magic of Disney Animation become a Pixar area, in which case you'd also lose One Man's Dream, which seems like a shame.

Quite right. Extend PP out to encompass all of the soundstage buildings along Mickey Avenue and rename the area "Luxo Lane".

OMD should be moved to Main Street USA.
Granted, that would require ending Main Street's existence as a glorified strip mall, but I'm totally cool with that.

Especially if it means we also get the Magic Shop returned with an added Oswald M&G.

From the link:
The cost is $10 per person, per 30 minutes, which includes the use of ice skates, socks and a helmet. Guests are also allowed to bring in their own equipment to use.
Does that mean that guests will be required to wear helmets, or they will be optional? Seems like it might be a bit of overkill to me

Also, I really hope that the 'rental' socks aren't actually even re-used. Even if they're washed between uses, that just grosses me out to think about! I'll share (clean) socks with family and friends, but I don't even want to consider sharing with people I've never met!

That is kind of neat. For some reason, I didn't realize that guests would be allowed to skate. I assumed that it would just be used for "demonstrations by some of Oaken’s talented cousins on the Arendelle ice" as noted in the original press release.
Same here. Glad I wasn't the only one who misunderstood that. Not that I would pay to skate there when I can do that at a zillion ice rinks anywhere else, but I didn't think Disney would go to that trouble. This celebration really is more substantive than I thought.

Rental Socks? really?

Would you rather stick your bare feet into communal skates? Just bring the one paid of socks your packed for your trip to DHS and it's all good.

I'd hope Disney washes these socks better than the undergarments they provided to their own CMs..........

I wear my CCM's with bare feet. But then, they are molded to my feet and are not communal. That would be gross.

I cannot believe they are charging for this.... In a park with so few attraction. Yet another money making scam to foot the bill for MyMagic+

We'll add this to new tours, harambe nights, villains event, more halloween parties... You are so transparent TDO!

I really don't think it is that bad of a cost. With the guys up the road charging $45 to be able to participate in the same type of interactive experiences that are free at MK and Epcot, $10 for use of skates and access to the rink doesn't seem that bad. It will also help a bit with crowd control. I can't believe it is going to be a very big rink.I don't personally have an interest to skate there, but for some it will probably be worth it.

I hope that they are able to somehow theme the soundstage though that this will be in. I'm honestly not expecting much if true that this was put together in a few weeks' time.

Bring your own skates and helmet and it's free.

$10 for 30 minutes seems rather high when that'll buy you at least an hour and a half at a real ice rink.

I was thinking the same thing. I also wonder how much the price would be if someone brought their own skates and socks., as I would certainly not be renting from Disney (have my own), but I would also not like the idea of paying the same price as someone who was utilizing the full package price.

Oh, and the helmet thing? First of all, I wouldn't be renting a helmet. Talk about a way to spread lice! Beyond that, I can't see wearing a helmet to skate slowly in large circles in a manner that involves hardly any turning and minimal stopping, unless we're talking about small children or people who need to add extra head protection for medical reasons. It's not like were talking about riding motorcycles here, or even being on the ice while hockey pucks are flying across the rink.

ETA: nothing in the world wrong with people who would be more comfortable with wearing a helmet taking advantage of the offering, but I personally wouldn't enjoy skating as much if I was forced to wear a helmet, as it would take away from the experience for me.

I don't think anyone who knows how to ice skate and/or owns their own pair of ice skates is going to find this an enjoyable experience. My guess would be that they are using plastic. If it is real ice it is probably not going to be the best skating surface due to how it will be built and the design of the sound stages.

Yep. And if it's the plastic stuff, my blades would be nowhere near that to begin with. Quality ice skates are far too expensive for that plastic crap!

If it is plastic, the need for the helmet is even more laughable for most people IMO, because it's even harder to get any real speed going when it's not real ice.
