Frozen at Disney's Hollywood Studios for the summer?

The premium offerings are a result of people willing to pay for special access and privilege plain and simple. TDO is selling a higher level of access to those willing to pay for it, they are simply monetizing premium access viewing with a little free food and drink.

While I agree 100% with these sentiments, the main reason that we decided to pay for this was....TIME. Based on the Frozen meet and greet lines, I expect that seeing the sing-along is going to be at least an hour or two wait. Similarly, 30 minutes or more to get a good seat for both the parade and the fireworks. Is 2-3 hours of my time worth $60? Hmmm... Is 3 hours of my time plus some alcohol and food worth my $60 - suddenly much more likely. Assuming I get 2-3 drinks and maybe 2-3 desserts, that is a Disney value (certainly not a real world value) of about $30-45. Is $15-30 worth 2-3 hours of my vacation time?

Given how awful the SWW premium package was, I feel for people who book this. Expect to stand in the sun for an hour prior to the "royal welcome" and enjoy Mickey's Premium bars and then stand for an hour prior to the fireworks while enjoying the two Frozen cupcakes available everywhere (but in miniature form) prior to enjoying a crappy view of the fireworks, too close to the hat and with trees in the way. There's the chance that Disney will fix what it got wrong w/ the SWW packages, but it certainly doesn't sound like they plan to.

Also, there is nothing more "Frozen" than free booze. It made more sense for Star Wars, but for Frozen??? I hope they are margaritas at least.

I am pretty sure that is on the horizon but my fear is that will result in a cut somewhere. My worst nightmare would be the elimination of EMHs (I think evening are at most risk of being cut - morning will stay). But the premium would be stay onsite and get 2 or 3 additional FP+ ranked by the hotel tiers. Remember, this was a model that we read about back some years ago where the expensive resorts would get 5, mods 4, values 3 (something to that effect). In terms of paying extra money for others - I am sure its in the books and will be tested first in the resorts then off site. Is there value in paying for FP+? In present day - NO. However, FP+MM+ has already transformed the wait times for many attractions and in the coming 12 to 16 months - wait times may be worse without a FP+. Even this past January where for ever - wait times has been next to nothing - many attractions had 20 or more waits.

IMO, FP+ could generate a lot of cash due to relative scarcity. If they simultaneously reduce the number of FP+ available, then offer additional for a fee or onsite Deluxe added quantities at 60 days to ensure you had access people would pay it gladly. I believe they would have to limit the numbers because people would be beating down their doors to give them more $$$.

I've never done the SWW premium package, but I had read some pretty good reviews. Yes, just ice cream and a soda in the afternoon, but the review I read said there were 7 different desserts at the fireworks party (AYCE), so a little better than two miniature cupcakes.

I agree with the many sentiments here. As soon as I heard about this...I thought "same as SWW and its getting to look like an obvious cash grab". I hate the thought of losing the evening EMH's but I can also see that happening. For the cost of the resorts at any level compared to what you can get off property EMHs are one of the perks that draw us in. We did the Star Wars Breakfast at Sci - Fi and wouldn't do it again. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing and not worth the roughly $250 we spent for our family of four. Pay extra for more FPs? or more for people at Deluxe vs mods vs. values? For our family it won't be more money out of our pocket it will be less money spent at WDW in the long run. Instead of multiple trips per year (from Illinois) we are down to one big trip per year. But after this last trip we decided to maybe look at other options for our vacation $$$. To our family it just seems like they are starting to constantly have their hand out and giving less back in return.

Will we stop going altogether? probably not. Will we change how we 'do' WDW? you bet. We are already looking at next year starting the trip with Uni/Sea World and then maybe the beach...quite possibly skipping WDW completely. (we are going with a school band trip in Feb so it won't be as painful). Then maybe the next year starting at uni/Sea World and going to WDW for 5 days instead of 9.

I did do the SWW Premium package and I also have already booked the Frozen package for this weekend. The desserts were all pretty good and if you were planning on buying a few alcoholic drinks anyway, this will probably be worth it for you. If you're not going to drink, I think $60 is very high for this. For me personally, I bought the package for the dessert party only, we may or may not show up for the morning parade and sing along, depends on how we feel that day. I really enjoyed being able to have some space during the fireworks and not having to camp out and stand in the same spot for an hour before they started.

If this is in the same spot as the SWW package, the best spot for fireworks was all the way forward to the stage and all the way to the left of the area.

I actually wrote to complain about the Feel the Force Package. I got a form-letter back of course. It thanks me for my feedback and helping them to improve Hollywood Studios. Apparently that means turning right around and offering the same basic package.

Man, Disney will sink to anything for a buck right now!

As soon as we saw this we booked it. We enjoy both the wishes and illuminations dessert parties. We have the harambe nights party scheduled for this summer as well. Actually looking forward to it. I like trying new things each trip. I understand it's $211, but it's something new we haven't done before. I won't have to fight the crowds and I'll be enjoying a new event after a few weeks for Disney to work the bugs out

I don't think it is not drinking in front of the kiddos but rather end up with a drinking around the world atmosphere at an event marketed for children. I didn't see anyone falling down drunk at the Star Wars events and it was the same thing with the drinks being offered in the Frozen Frenzy. But maybe there will be a parent or (two hundred) who are just so completely ready to "Let It Go" that they do indeed Let It Go! lol Honestly, you can get drinks at HS so those people who would enjoy a drink will do that regardless.

Oh lord...you can't have a drink around kids?

They may as well call me an unfit mother now!
No I'm not saying anything about you. I just don't think an upgrade for a show aimed at kids should include alcohol. Sure offer it are places that sell drinks but that's it and charge less.

But the kids aren't drinking...if they aren't selling it people can just as easily walk out to get a beer and walk back in with it.

I have private seated dinners for my dance team when we watch Fantasmic. I've had a plenty of dad(and mom)walk out to get a beer and come back.

Just because there is alcohol doesn't mean people get trashed.
Are there people? Yes.
I also agree that those would get trashed regardless.

I served booze at my kids birthday party this year and no one got wasted.

This is a show for kids. If they want to charge something fine but there should be no alcohol. Who wants to see people get drunk on unlimited drinks.

DW is by no means a kid and loves Frozen. While she isn't the target audience, she is a part of the audience. She is also over 21, so a couple of free drinks and desserts at reserved seating for fireworks is very well marketed to her.

The kids price is significantly less, so that seems appropriate to me. Why make parents leave the event to get a drink and then come back into the event - to me that would encourage less appropriate drinking practices. If I have to leave the event, I'm more likely to get two drinks (less trips out) and if I have two in my hands and it is 90 degrees, I'll drink them faster.

And the 'show' that we are paying the extra for (which includes the alcohol) is a fireworks show - last I checked fireworks shows are targeted to all ages. The Frozen theme is based on the latest Disney highly successful Disney movie, which (based on the two times we all saw it and the time DW and DD went to the sing-along showing) had audiences with more adults than kids (yes, I understand two parents for every kid) who are the same ones who will be coming to the Frozen fireworks at DHS.
