Frozen at Disney's Hollywood Studios for the summer?

I'm pretty sure it's 3rd party that Disney forces to carry a healthy liability insurance policy
I would assume that an ice rink would be an up-charge "attraction" (like the Shooting Gallery or tours) since it requires a lot more equipment than a regular attraction and has a much lower capacity. I'm sure that they will adjust the cost to cover the price of any equipment they need as well as the additional insurance (plus a little extra for the shareholders), and this experience would be able to come out ahead. I can't imagine that this type of concept would lose money for TWDC if properly managed

As has been mentioned, there are plenty of other ice rinks near places that serve alcohol, including in DLR's DTD, and it hasn't been an issue. I've also never heard of drunkenness being a problem at the Studios, but it is in the realm of possibilities. I'd be a little skeptical of putting one in Epcot during F&W, but I'm also sure that they would leave it up to the CM's discretion to determine who might pose a danger to themselves or other guests

EDIT: The water parks and hotel pools have additional liability that the regular theme parks don't have. They still manage to cover their costs and turn a profit. Even as a small one-off attraction, an ice rink would surely do the same

As for the fireworks, Does DHS need to do them over the front of the park? Might be cooler do add a Frozen TAG After F! at F! mountain. DHS can do great pyro there! Not to mention the projection system! The pyro for the rain show impresses me more than the pyro in the regular show! Go Figure! LOL! I still like the pyro in the regular show, it just seems that there's more in the rain show.

There would be no benefit to doing it at F! because TDO is trying to get more people to stay in DHS and they already have no problem filling up F! on a regular basis. Ironically the exact same amount and type of pyro is used in the normal Fantasmic and the Rain show they do. It just seems like more in the rain show because it's all condensed into a couple minute show rather than 27 minutes.

Here's a fun rumor....

Apparently there talk of a Frozen stage show at DHS in the premiere theatre.

There's also a m&g proposed and frozen themed fireworks at the end of the night.

This would be starting very soon, if true.

Thoughts?
I wonder if they will do it in Broadway in the London England,as it being so popular with whole families round the world who knows?

Attractions (good ones at least) take years to develop, design, and construct. I'm sure once Disney realized how much of a success Frozen was going to be they got people on an attraction, but there's no way it would be ready by now, the movie hasn't even been out a year. Also they typically like to wait a little while before pouring tens of millions into a new attraction to see if the movie has staying power (which clearly this one does).

In the meantime I see no problem with a Frozen fireworks show, I think it would be extremely popular at DHS and a great alternative to Fantasmic. DHS already has the infrastructure for it. Heck, if Disneyland Paris had an Enchanted fireworks show I see no reason DHS can't have a Frozen one!
But if they take too long, the hype for Frozen might die in the same way that the hype for Avatar foamed away.

Why are people saying lawsuits would happen? Um, you can fall on ice. It happens. No one is going to sue because little Johnny slipped on the ice. People fall all of the time on ice rinks. I agree it probably won't happen at WDW but at the same time, lawsuits? Really? LOL

Doubt it. Disney movies have much longer lasting power. Evidence: Snow White ride, 75 years later.
well but that's a classic one! I dont think Frozen as much power to become a real classic.

They put up an ice rink in Downtown Disney in Anaheim to hype the opening of Frozen a while back...I don't believe they made anyone take a sobriety test before skating...lol
As someone who always walks to HS (from Boardwalk Resorts) with a beverage in hand and has a few in the park as well, I would not even think about ice skating, let alone actually try it. I'd be contempt watching others as I sip a Sam Adams. I think most folks who would be drinking would feel the same way and Disney has little to worry about.

Only lawsuit I'd be filing would be for attempted murder from the burgers at ABC Commissary. (In fairness I haven't had one in 2 years, maybe they're better now)

I haven't heard anything about this and the folks I've checked with know nothing about it.

The Premiere Theater is tiny as well. It would seem to me that it would make more people upset *who couldn't get in to see it) than it would be worth,

The stage is also pretty small for any kind of elaborate production.

I've never been inside AIE. Does anyone know the capacity of the two theaters? If the AIE theater is larger, it would seem like it'd be better to just buyout the contract for the last six months and get Frozen into a more permanent home in that theater.

My friends have said AIE would be used for Jedi Training, but I would think Frozen would be a much better use (if the theater is bigger than the Premier). There's absolutely no reason they HAVE to move Jedi Training.

Superstar (Idol Theater) seats 1100... Premiere is close to 1000 when bleachers are in use.

It seems to me like this is true, but I'll believe it when I see it...

They really should move the Training Academy inside, somewhere. Considering the heat, and the mass of crowds that gather around the stage, it's not the best area, IMO, to walk around. I'd sort of hate to see Superstar Theater JUST house this going forward but it is what it is I guess. They need to make it a bit more of a 'show' and they could still incorporate the kids.

More people get hurt playing golf or tennis than ice skating. We aren't talking about a hockey game breaking out or someone doing spins or jumps.

The capacity for a skating rink would be a problem and I think it would be a weird offering inside a theme park. DLR had their temporary rink at DTD but not in the park. I think it's far more likely it would be some sort of ice show (Disney on Ice variety). Then you don't have the capacity issues or the issues with renting equipment. A permanent public ice rink would make more sense at Disney Springs or even Wide World of Sports.

according to my sources, while it is "known" that information is leaking out to other departments, it's still not internally "official". Announcements are expected in house over the next 24 hours.

I am not sure when anything will go public (Disney Parks Blog, Press Release, etc) But once it goes live to other CMs I am sure it will go viral soon after

Thanks for the updates. Appreciated. Interesting how fast this came together.

I suppose that has to do with who the emails came from.

I know it probably means very little, but I do find it interesting that (am I correct in that it's higher ups?) the higher ups seem to be a bit ... surprised ... that the parks are resting on their laurels and not doing anything.

I just downloaded the update for the My Disney Experience app on my android phone. Just playing around with it (nice update BTW) and noticed that under Events and Tours heading for DHS is now listed 'FROZEN summer fun LIVE! at Disney's Hollywood Studios'

When I click on the link the app reports an error, but further provides support this is to be announced soon. Wish I knew how to get a screen grab, but I'm sure others here can see it too now.
