YES! Go back through the thread, you'll see all manner of excuses as to why people would be in the water when they weren't supposed to be.
I'm not talking about the family of the boy.. Or the "no swimming". I'm talking about the new signs.
There is no room for interpretation in that wording.

And no- I don't think the world should be punished because a few people maybe possibly could disregard a sign.

That is the exact "bubble" I was talking about. Creating barriers to protect humans from themselves. It's ridiculous.

Looks like you're going to have to vacation somewhere else now that the rope fence has been put up..

I'm actually going to give Disney credit for this "temporary" solution. In just over 60 hours since the incident occurred, they managed to put up a barrier that doesn't look horrible. The wood/rope actually "fits" to a certain extent. They very easily could have put up a chain link fence or a construction wall. Let's give them a chance to sort everything out and come up with a long-term solution before we crucify them.

Or worse...

Ok people are paying the consequences of the assumption that a sign won't work..so there's a need for a fence.

Different wording. Same meaning.

What consequences? There's a fence! And from what I've seen, not unsightly. If your vacation is "ruined" by a bit of fencing on a small man-made beach, well then... All of the wonderful stuff in Disney, and THIS is what makes you go "Nuh-uh."?

People who think the fence is temporary are in for a big surprise. Like the old saying goes you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. This horrible situation with the little boy happened, doesn't matter if it was freak accident Disney can't ignore it. Disney's lawyers will tell them they have no choice that fences have to stay. Who do you think told them to put these fences up so quickly. Makes me sick that people are saying it ruins their views. Then stay some place else. The fact you are quoting you pay 600+ a night for a room and shouldn't have to deal with a fence is selfish and in light of what happened to that boy disgusting.

There is a saying, "locking your car door just keeps the honest person out". I think there will still be people who hop the fence to get get to the water. Either so there kids can put their feet in it so they can get a picture or if they are playing in the sand making sand castles and need water, or whatever reason. We see people go over the fence everywhere, at the zoo, WDW, the park. It means nothing to a lot of people. I think the mentality is that they are not hurting anyone so what is the big deal.

Alligator warning signs, beaches closed at night, and maybe even a nice boardwalk in some areas would work out well in the future. Alligators can climb fences if you guys don't know, it's worth taking a quick Google Search to watch a video. It is highly unlikely that an alligator attack will happen again on WDW property for the next 50 years, but I think the idea of it is not going to happen is how the baby lost its life, because it seems Disney legit just didn't anticipate this to ever happen, which it probably wouldn't have if it was an adult, but as the child was so small it was just like attacking the alligator's normal prey. Still that is no excuse, not to mention how there are Alligator warning signs across the street at the Shades of Green, and how they knew there were gators in there. I'm sure they knew gators are in many, or most Florida lakes, but because Seven Seas Lagoon is a man made lagoon and that is stated on the monorail etc. without a proper warning of gators people are without reason to believe there are gators there.
Problem is though for Disney there were no alligator signs, just no swimming signs - which for those of you that think it was sufficient really was not unless Disney didn't know about alligators being there, but they did. They hosted a movie on the beach with lounge chairs just a few feet away from the water, which was known to have alligators in it. Not to mention they can walk on land... Those two points are going to make it impossible for Disney to defend any case, so of course Disney will be willing to settle out of court, which is almost certain to happen. Disney knows they are partly to blame so morally I think they'd be willing to help them with some cash, and they don't want a court battle which would look nasty from a public perspective. I also asked my cousin, she's an Orlando based attorney, and she said that put aside morals that all things considered would be in everyone's best interest to settle out of court. Still though, no amount of money can repay for an innocent baby's life, and I am sure their world just collapsed after this happened. God bless them and help them get through this tragedy. I'm sure that baby is in a better place!

Some of you guys have gone batship crazy tonight. Way to keep it classy.

This thread has really shown people's true colors. Many people being of the selfish variety and caring more (in an angry fashion) that rope-fences are being constructed than the unfortunate reason they are being installed. Disney is a haven for lawsuits, they're going to take every precaution they need to.
