Forbidden Journey Breaks Down

I think of all the rides i would want to be stuck on and then have the lights go on for an evac it would be haunted mansion.

We almost had that happen on our last trip!! We were about 5 minutes too late though and ended up being evacuated from the stretching room.

Also, was there any type of announcement made at FJ? Something letting people know there was a problem or that workers would be around to assist them?? If not and the ride stopped and the lights came on and I had sat there for over 15 minutes not being able to move around, I would have been the one people would be complaining about because I would have called 911 too!

Yep.
Frequent announcements were made that the ride would begin again shortly, followed later by announcements that our vehicles would be moving backwards, then turning around, and that team members would be coming to escort us out. (Obviously they had planned to restart the ride, but were prevented from doing so due to the morons calling 911 and forcing an evac.)

Phone was in my pocket where, due to the restraints, it was impossible to get to. Hence no HD iphone video of the whole thing. Luckily my wife had her camera in a pocket she could reach.:D

Great pics Lee. I love seeing behind the scenes pics. I don't like when the rides break down but when the lights have to come on it's cool to see what makes the attractions what they are.

MULTIPLE panicked and frantic calls

The media down here treated this as a huge event this morning, and played back many 911 calls - the people were frantic - and several they said they had been "upside down for over an hour" :lookaroun - funny, I did not even know it went upside down. One poor soul was practically crying to the 911 operator about how, "I just can't do this any more!!!" - I wondered to myself how many were calling their lawyers from their 'upside down' positions. Actually, I was surprised by the mention that there were no medical complaints upon evac., as on the 911 calls they were complaining a bunch about how they were feeling very, very ill ....

I did not think that my cynical, poor opinion of the general populous could fall much lower - yet somehow it has, yet again ....

Worng. New rides are even worse with frequent breakdowns than the older ones are, especially when they involve new technology.
How about when Spiderman opened. There were alot of breakdowns. The technology is so advanced on these newer rides that it's ridiculous to think that they are always going to run smoothly.

Yeah, it's not too bad of a trade off for me, sure you lose time and you're just sitting there but the moment those lights go on its "magic" time for the uber nerd lol

1- It doesn't go upside down. At most, they were reclined onto their back, or tilted slightly forward.
2- I still doubt the hour story. It took us 30min to get off.

I'll be there in November. Universal's website doesn't tell you much. What does this ride do? They say it's the best ride ever, technology wise. I'm excited to go on it.

they were clearly exaggerating

Lee - I did not actually believe the part about them being stuck upside down or that they were actually stuck for an hour - I was trying to illustrate just how silly the 911 callers were being. I absolutely appreciate your first-hand info. though - and that's what had made me so confident in mocking the callers!

If you've been to universal before it's kinda like the mummy and spiderman put together. It's part motion simulator part roller coaster part AA stuff with better effects than Disney could dream of (just stating a fact, still love Disney) it's pretty intense but very VERY good. The line itself is amazing too so if the ride doesn't sound right for you, wait in the line anyway its fantastic.

Ok, cool. Thanks. I've been on the mummy and spiderman rides. So, I can relate a little bit. I wish November was tomorrow, so I can go some rides. It sucks living in the arctic of MN and not near these parks.

There are no AAs in the attraction. There are some animated props, and some animated figures, but nothing along the likes of proper AAs that we see at Disney (such as Hopper, Stitch, Captain Jack, Spaceship Earth etc). Forbidden Journey is disappointing in that respect. The movie scenes are also nowhere near as effective as Soarin. The queue is hands-down the best queue however.

I've never been on Soarin' either. Or Everest. So, those will be all new to me as well. Is that Hollywood Rip Roarin' Coaster open yet? If so, how's that one?

It's a great ride but much like The Hulk it gives me a bit of a headache.

No problem with Dueling Dragons though which seems much smoother.

Not sure if it's the vibration, the head beating restraints or something else.

It is really good if not a little short. It also looked as if it would be really cool to do at night, and that is on my to do list for the next trip!

We have a news feed that streams from an outside source in my IT department. It actually runs all over the company in all the break rooms. I have emailed the source and informed them of the blunder.... ENJOY! I sat for 30 minutes for it to loop again.
