Dang, only an hour or so from the first post, and, well...

Some people do not mind waiting through a sea of people to get a few shot glasses of whine but quite a few of us don't want to deal with the madness. And what do people do when they drop $80 to get into a park and they are greeted by a sea of people at one of the events they wanted to go to? They go to guest relations and complain and expect compensation. If an $8 price tag turns what has become somewhat of a cluster f then that is a small price to pay. I for one would rather throw down a few bucks for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.
Exactly why I think is the true reason for the pricing on once-free seminars.

I recall a 100 minute line just for a few sips of wine.
I observed the line was shuffled in, and then after some time, a CM closed the line (it was pretty long).
A good chunk left the line, grumbling about the:
"****ing way they handle this" & "I want a refund for the day!" & "I am not having my way!"...

Oy. :brick:

They were giving out little tickets to everyone at the ones I went to so you would know whether or not you'd get in right as you stepped into line.

That has been my experience with WDW Food and Beverage for years now.

I expect the worst.

And even if it actually improves size-wise, they are still taking something that has been FREE from the start and charging for it.

And since samples at booths are no longer $1-2, but much higher, they are making it a very costly event.

I don't have to wait to experience it to know it's a bad move ... this is the direction they've been going in for years.

Anyway, that's my last word of the afternoon on the subject or I'll never get out of the office. I'm sure there will be plenty more added ... enjoy the topic ... I won't charge you $8 for reading!
Thanks for not charging me!

I see how the argument works for both sides, but I have to say that the general public probably will not be happy about being charged for something that used to be free unless Disney changes it drastically and promotes those changes. If I wasn't the Disney geek I was but went to the event, expecting it to be free only to find out I was now being charged for it, I wouldn't be too happy.

Man you are narrow minded. Guarantee this is the path to an increasingly quality event. No apologies necessary. It's just the next natural evolution to an increasingly great event.

Did you take that stance just because 74 took an opposite view.

No.

And we dropped it about 3 pages ago. It's the people who claim they hate to see us argue that are trying to keep it alive. :brick:

I really think the event will be better now. I think you may even see Disney offer discounted "ticket books" eventually where you may get 8 samplings for 50 dollars rather than the 64 dollars if purchased individually. As you can tell, I hate standing in lines.

PS, they are adding Thai food this year! :slurp:

I've personally had my fill of the jt-74 love letters, I have to say. Every thread turns into this kind of thing. Just get a room already.

I think this could be an interesting debate to read, but it looks like it's going to turn into another "Why 74 needs to lighten up/ Why jt needs to get a clue" pillowfight. That should be very enlightening, just like the previous 87 of them were.

AMEN!...and most of the time it is not even jt or 74 who brings each other up..it is others who are so obsessed with them it seems and their love/hate relationship with each other that they feel the need to feed the jt/74 debate...it makes no sense and is the same thing over and over again in every single thread that they post in.

I think people are more interested about what jt and 74 are going to say to each other then what the threads are really about in the first place.

One last post, and then I am finished with this.

We aren't trying to keep an argument alive. We are trying to discuss the topic at hand in a mature manner. You are welcome to join us at any time in doing so, but please don't think that just because someone doesn't agree with you, you should tell them that they are following someone down a dark alley. I find it disrespectful, and I don't appreciate it.

As I said, I think that we will have to wait to see what is in store for us when the festival starts. It could be different, but it could be exactly the same.

I was here first.

But to our credit, I'm sure some find it entertaining. And those who claim the hate it, can't stop talking about it. So, move along faster than a line at the F&W Fest. Much faster.

Um, trust me I was disrespected first.

Yes, wait until the product is unveiled before passing judgement. What a great idea! Wish I had thought of it.

Well I was going to quote all the off topic post, but the limit is 10 quotes per post.

Anyways, 20 off topic post.

Unfortunate. There are some good nuggets in this thread.

I believe it was the other way around when you made a comment to Evan.

By saying that, you also can't say that it's going to be great and be an incredible change. You are completely going against what you said before, my friend. You can't complain about it since you don't know if it will change at all, but you can't praise it for changes that you think will come. What if they don't?

Edit: Correction, it wasn't Evan you made the comment to, it was 74. My apologies.

They do something similar in DL on the Beer walk during their FWF.

"Evan", who claims he hates bickering, never hesitates to compliment anyone who tries to insult me or some other posters here. He lets others do his dirty work. I find that a bit snarky. I'd much rather he confront me directly if he has a problem with me. I have it on good authority he knows my primary antagonist here so I have an idea what his motivation is.

Now can we please return to the topic at hand.

The F&W festival is like a fine vintage or me. It only gets better with time.

Evan left the thread on the first page, so I don't know why you think that he's causing all of this.

Returning to the topic, I've never been a big fan of the festival. It's just never appealed to me that much.

Stop. It's something that has been going on awhile. I've just decided to point it out.

F&W is an acquired taste.

Sorry
