FLE Completion Timeline

I really don't think you can expect anyone, excepting maybe a few dozen very hard core theme park fans, to plan a 2012 visit to Disney World because Double-Dumbo is opening with an interactive queue.

Now that the opening of this project is being split into nearly a half dozen phases over a two year period, I think about the only thing that could reasonably be expected to generate interest in a vacation is the opening of the Little Mermaid ride. The separate openings of the tents and meet n' greets and even the BatB restaurant aren't going to convince Americans to pack up the minivan and drive to Disney World.

I almost think they would get a bigger bang for their buck by opening all of this at once, NEW! for the summer of 2013, rather than dribble out a snack bar or a gift shop or a spinner or a meet n' greet every few months for two years.

I agree, while I am happy for the MK getting some new stuff, I can see how people see this as underwhelming. This should have been planned to be completed all at once because that could have given that WOW factor. Im still kind of wait and see on this project, its just really hard to get too excited because of the timetable.

You know what would excite me more about this expansion? If i knew the year following the opening of the Seven Dwarves Mine ride that we were getting a BIG E-ticket ride elsewhere in the park. :animwink:

I know that probably isn't going to happen. But one can dream!

Don't forget that the more time it takes to build, the more time TDO will have to cut budget ... c'mon, try to see things from the bean-counters perspective .. sheesh. ;)

Yes.
Tha phases are paid for with the budgets allocated for different fiscal years, not with one lump sum.
Plus, there are logistical issues involved.

You don't happen to know (or can give us a good guess) as to when they would announce opening dates, would you!?!

They only just recently announced the opening date for TLM for DL, didn't they!?! Or did the DLers know when their TLM attraction was due to open anyway?

I would love for TLM to be open by Oct. of next year. We have a family that wants to go with us next year (they're first timers) and their little girl is in love with Ariel. It would be a shame if they missed the opening by a month or so!

I think we are getting two new dumbos

Is that the plan with Dumbo? It would make sense if there was little to no downtime for Dumbo. As in, ld Dumbo closes on Friday night and on Saturday MK opens with Dueling Dumbo operating and old Dumbo behind a nice wall. Is that the plan?

My copy of the timeline says:

Rethemed Barnstormer - Jan-Mar 2012

Dumbo - Apr-June 2012

Circus and Princess M&G - July-Sept 2012

Beauty and the Beast/Little Mermaid - Oct-Dec 2012

Mine Coaster - Jan-March 2014

As always, subject to change. May not reflect soft openings.

Do we have a set closing date for Snow White's Scary Adventures yet? By this timeline, that attraction has to close before the end of this year (or right after New Year's at the LATEST) if the Princess Fairtytale Hall is going to be open by July 2012. Which means there's 2 - 2 1/2 year gap between the two Snow White rides in MK. I expected SWSA to close immediately upon the opening of the Mine Coaster, not the other way around. That kind of stinks thinking about it, especially with so much of FL already behind walls. This way, they'll be losing another attraction in that part of the park and not getting it back until early 2014. That's on top of Dumbo closing in that area, too, even if he comes back the next day over in Storybook Circus. That part of FL will be a maze of walls for a few months, which is necessary but unfortunate.

from what i herd no, they are using the same dumbo ( for at leas one of them ) what they could do is build the new one then install the old one(wile keeping the new one open) but it is highly unlikely. dumbo will most likely open with the rest of SBC with two dumbos completely finished

I thought some of our insiders around here said that we are getting two new Dumbos!?!

It's obvious they'll at least have to build one new one, if not two. Since this is a double Dumbo ride. And while the concept art isn't a good indication of anything (of course), it seems to be undergoing major theme changes, doing away with some of the more elaborate gold/red/blue mechanical workings in the middle of the rides. I'm thinking these are new rides, not recycled ones. That's totally my own speculation though, so don't think i know anything lol!

The schedule is long, but you can't really compare construction in an open park to brand new construction that no one is near or will disturb.

Unless they intend to close down the entire area surrounding FL, I can see why the timeline is longer.

Or they could reuse the system for Aladdin's Magic Carpets and get that cartoon clunker out of Adventureland. I really can't believe that any one park needs four Dumbo-style spinner attractions.

I second that. AL needs a new ride of their own, not a Dumbo knockoff.
