Trip Report First 6 pack Vaca!

Who: Top to bottom, left to right.

Me (Dolly Parton made a song of my name ), Hubby, Bear(8), Handsome (5),Ninja (8) and Jet (10).
What: We were supposed to go on a 40th birthday extravaganza for me back in March both of our extended families were set to join the festivities. When COVID hit we changed locations to Arizona however I still wanted my Disney fix. So we are surprising the kids on their last day of school and heading to WDW. This will be our first family vacation without any extended family (no grandparents, cousins etc). We are excited to spend quality time with our kiddos.
A few pictures from my 40th celebration.

Where: AOA Cars family suite. The girls love AOA for the Ariel rooms however since we don’t have the grandparents to bunk up with we are trying out the Cars suites. Handsome adores Cars so it was a no brainer when choosing theming.
When: May 27-June 1st, 5 day tickets with Park Hopper. I totally goofed on Park reservations. I booked a lot of DHS in the beginning to make sure we had a chance at ROTR. Our younger 3 haven’t been to WDW since 2017 since our last trip was to DLR. Well long story short by the time I went in to change them every park was booked up! So there will be a lot of park hopping this trip.

We had received the room ready report as soon as we landed. We stopped at luggage services to pick up our Publix order. Unfortunately our adult beverages were unable to be delivered since we weren’t there to receive them. Lesson learned.

Our room was building #1, room 1537. I really liked this location. It was a short walk to everything. Hubby prefers upper floors but I don’t mind the ground floor at all. A few room pictures.

We have stayed in the Little Mermaid rooms and now the Cars. I prefer the location of the Cars and theming is sooo good!

May 28th- DHS
I was shocked at how quickly we all fell asleep. The beds were comfy, we were all spread out with our own space and of course we were in WDW!! My alarm went off at 5:00am. I showered, got ready and pulled out everyone’s outfit for the day. I had bought cereal and so I went to get breakfast laid out and realized we hadn’t received our milk either. I schlepped over to luggage services, told them my name and they said “nothing here.” I was pondering this and the castmember could tell I didn’t believe him so he asked me to come look. Sure enough the very first bag had our name in LARGE letters.. By the time I made my way back to the room everyone was up and getting ready.

Time whizzed by and it was 6:55 before we knew it. Hubby and I made our way outside to look for a 5G spot. We were way out in the parking lot before we ran out of time and we only had two bars. We used the world clock on Hubby’s work phone. Pulled down with 5 seconds remaining released at what I thought was spot on..... nada. No 7am ROTR for us. Shoot.

We got back to the room told our children what total utter losers there parents are dashing all their hopes and dreams. They didn’t blink an eye, ha!

We walked over to the skyliner and were in a very long line at 7:15am for a 9:00am park opening.

7:30am they started loading cars and we were on by 7:40am.

Our kids were so excited watching all the different cars and talking about their favorites. So far I was in with this new mode of transportation. The transfer to the Hollywood Studios line took all of 5 minutes.

At 8:15 they started letting people in the park.

I did get a little misty eyed when we walked in. Life felt so good and normal again in that mask free moment. We went straight to MMRR. We were in line by 8:21.

We were off the ride by 8:29 and dropped in at our favorite hotel.

He was embarrassed! He apologized profusely.

We finished up TOT and walked over to Rockin Rollercoaster. We needed to do rider swap since Handsome it a little too short.

While Hubby and the girls rocked out.

Handsome and I checked out the Lightning McQueen show.

The timing worked perfectly we were all done at the same time. We swapped however Hubby and Handsome went to stand in the longest line in the park Starbucks while the girls and I had fun!

We've done the Nemo suites and enjoyed them as well. My wife and I got up early one morning and walked around the resort. We were blown away by the theming OUTSIDE of the Cars area! We decided then that the next stay at AoA was going to be in a Cars room.

So fingers crossed the world doesn't blow up between now and May 10th 2022.

It is her second favorite ride. Her first being The Incredicoaster at California Adventure. Which is basically the same ride!!

We got off the ride and Hubby was still in line for Starbucks.

Finally after a 30 minute wait. We had coffee in hand. We had to find a better way.

It was right at 10:00 and we decided to make our way to Toy Story Land.

Handsome has been talking riding SDD for two years. His best friend went 2 years ago so he was so excited that it was finally his turn.

Posted wait time was 45 we waited about 40. The temperatures were rising to the 90’s. Ninja struggled with the heat and the wait. She’s on the impatient side so we knew we needed to strategize wait times for the rest of the day. We all LOVED SDD and Handsome sent his friend pictures from our ride.

We stayed in a Cars family sweet in July of '12, a little less than a month after that section opened. We really enjoyed that resort, even though Nemo and Cars were the only 2 sections open at the time.
I was a Disney Store CM at our local mall at the time, and was able to get a 60% discount on the room (I also had a 35% discount on merch., and 50% off the DDP).
When we went to book another stay there for our June of '13 trip, there were CM discount blackouts for our dates, and the price had gone up considerably. We opted for a family sweet at ASMusic, which was accepting CM discounts for our dates.
We have a 2.5-year-old granddaughter, and another granddaughter due in less than a week, and really want to stay there again someday soon...!!!!!
