LAKE BUENA VISTA -- A small fire broke out at the Enchanted Tiki Room at Disney’s Magic Kingdom theme park Wednesday.
Disney said the call came in around 5:30 p.m. and the area was evacuated.
A spokesman for the Reedy Creek Fire Department told News 13 the fire was contained to the attic, and the sprinkler system extinguished the flames.
At this time, the Tiki Room is the only attraction closed.
The cause of the fire and extent of damage are not yet known.
No injuries were reported.

I read that last night. I am one of the few who enjoy the show. Gives me a chance to sit and relax in some air conditioning.

I'm one of the few too for those exact reasons.

I love the show as well. I went to Disneyland last year, for the first time, and when I saw the original show, I did this: :lookaroun

I think all the people who love the original show would actually eat their words if they show it again. They changed it for a reason. Just my two copper pennies.

That shocks me! But Im going to chalk it up to you not seeing the original first. The story, songs, and atmosphere of the original is far superior, I think! The new one is gutted, yucky and annoying. The first time I saw the "under new management" one a buncha years ago, I had your reaction to the old one! lol ---> :lookaroun

If the original wasnt still at DL, id be SO sad!

This past year I brought my fiance to WDW for his first time, and he forced me into the tiki room, against my better judgement, and he said the whole time i looked like i wanted to murder someone! lol :ROFLOL:but its true! that attraction brings out the crazy in me! it makes me so livid!!!!! aaarrrgh!

I don't see how it could...

I did not either. If the rumors of Iago being completely damaged and such..unless they had a back up AA of him somewhere and the damage was nt severe enough to replace him.

Either way, as others have stated here and elsewhere the water damage from the sprinkler system would at least warrant a few days.

Walked past the TR earlier this evening. It did not appear to be open. There were CM's stationed outside with no indications of shows playing.

Maybe I have a bad memory. I went to the Tiki Room for the first time in 1991. I was almost 11 but I can remember them singing the "Tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki birds" song then. I last went to it last year and a few times in between and to be honest I am not even sure if I ever saw the original one. If I did, I don't think there was much difference
