Wanted to pay my respects:

Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. I have been watching this show since I was a kid have extremely fond memories of the show. I am however, super excited for Epcot Forever, and HarmonUS. Illuminations while incredible lasted 19 years...WE GO ON! Excited for Forever!

...tommorow should be an interesting day wonder if anything big will be announced. Hope to see a full loop of the experience center as well.

Just wanted to add my own ‘thank you’ to all involved in Reflections of Earth over the years... from the first stages of development through to the final shot. It truly was a work of art, and something that could only ever have been of its time and place.

It will take another thousand circles ‘round the sun to better it.

Since not that many people brought this up. Another thing that I will miss from ROE is the projection on Spaceship Earth. For those that are leaving at the end of the show. Spaceship Earth would have a projection with the show's logo (formally their sponsor).

For example, at the end of the 4th of July show, they showed stars flying and wishing Happy Birthday To America.

On Epcot's 30th Anniversary, they showed the old and new Epcot logo with the number 30 on SSE.

On Epcot's Christmas tag, they said "Goodnight" in various languages while snow was falling.

Was the Spaceship Earth projection created for ROE or was that used before? I seriously hope they bring this back for "Epcot Forever" (Heck even HarmonioUS).

Did they do something special for tonight's final showing or was it the same?

So nice to spend the evening watching the final show with three 'Illuminations' fans.
The three of us are meeting up at the Imagination Gardens tomorrow around 5:30 if you would like to join us!

It looked like the same map of the earth as always. Always a delightful treat.

That black and white photo made me sad. It feels like I'm watching a funeral procession. Which is fitting since it's one of the last reaming non-IP shows and one of the last reaming elements from the Eisner era.
100% agreed. While I’m sure EPCOT Forever will be a nice tribute to the EPCOT of old, it’s only temporary. The fact that this will ultimately be replaced by the IP filled HarmonioUS makes tonight feel like a funeral for World Showcase as a whole. Without a doubt, this is easily my least favorite announced change of the EPCOT redo thus far.

Here’s my shaky iPhone video of the burn off:

I wish I had stuck around for this, I remember it from YEARS ago, it was mostly done during nights of EMH because regular nights they did it when most people we’re gone. At about 9:45 tho security came around to where I was (on the same bridge where those two women are fighting about ten people to the right, and boy am I glad I wasn’t close to them. I wouldn’t have wanted my time ruined) and kept saying “don’t stick around too long, nothing else is happening” of course people still stuck around, I finally decided to leave around 1035ish and I believe they did it shortly after.

A DVC card is limited to 5 guests FYI. And sadly we can't spend very long up there but you can at least get some pictures, a snack, and a look at how they can turn a nice space into a generic lobby.

So the meet up at the Imagination Pavilion was a nice get together.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to pick up some of my art postcards and share in some enjoyable conversation!
It really was great to meet ALL of you who turned up, and thank you for the cool decals and yummy cookies!
:)
I think it's been a long time since that much happiness has happened up there in the Imagination Gardens.
Really nice to get to talk to everyone!

Tonight's 'Illuminations' was fantastic.
Ended up getting a decent viewing spot after all due to the rain running people off.
Three fellow fans I met at our Imagintion Pavilion gathering were with me so we all enjoyed the show together which definitely enhanced the evening.
It's always better enjoying a moment like this was others who share the same passion for what this show represents.
So thank you all !
:)

We were also all in the core crowd gathered at the drawbridge post - show to cheer the Earth Barge's passing.
Fans also cheered the small pyro barges when they passed under....applause and waving from many.
Didn't stay for the Inferno Barge's burn off, but I'm glad it was a big display.

I will admit that I was expecting something additional after the Show happened....some additional pyro or some type of visual finale.
But the pyro tonight was fantastic.
I can beleive that extra shells may have been used.

It would be interesting to hear a general estimate as to what the Park attendence number for the night.
Good size crowd, but very much a 'event'.
Folks turned out to see this, and dressed in their vintage Epcot finery.
Lots of shirts and headwear related to the show.
Saw some great custom made hats...including one made to look like the Earth Barge open with it's central torch lit.
Lots of 'Illuminations' shirts...both official and customs.

What a great night.

The funeral of EPCOT. But tonight I'm grateful for all the evenings I've spend with this show.

I travelled to EPCOT specifically to see RoE a few more times. 13 times in fact. In a row. One pavilion at a time, plus front of house.

Heartbroken, but a new day will dawn...

For consolation I did get a little hug today from Kellie Coffey, the voice of Promise. :)

A few years ago it rained Illuminations. I was bombarded with more shrapnel than during my tour of duty in 'Nam!!
I took a few pieces home and kept them as a souvenir, used fireworks shells. I collected autographs on one of them.
I now have one piece of tangible Illuminations with the autographs of Don Dorsey (top, show designer)
Gavin Greenaway (left, music composer), and Kellie Coffey (right, angel).
