EPCOT Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

I have a theory that the Imagination Institute is actually an evil corporation that kidnapped Figment and stole him from Dreamfinder to promote their idea of "imagination". At the Imagination Institute, imagination is/was seen as something no one needs to put much effort into. Figment had his memory of Dreamfinder and his idea of imagination entirely erased; this is why at the end of the 1999 ride, Figment asks Nigel Channing "can they imagine too?" This is despite the fact that he already asked this question to Dreamfinder in the 1983 ride.
My head cannon is that since the imagination institute took over JII 1.0 and essentially killed dreamfinder as a character, figment messing up channing’s tour and figment’s more annoying and mischievous character is him taking his revenge on Channing for what he did.

This is true but it's so very difficult to be glass half full when it comes to an imagination overhaul. That said, it WILL happen eventually.
The frustrating thing about this is that Disney Imagineers can make some genuinely imaginative additions to the park when they try. Space 220 and the new entrance were great additions.

They really better get Figment rework right, if they don't just bring back the 1983 ride (which is unfortunately very unlikely).

if we're lucky the Fujifilm/Konica Minolta merger will go through and they'll have the buying power to be the sponsor for the new Imagination pavilion. Fuji Figment has good brand recog and that classic Disney naming convention / alliteration. Disney would be wise to hit them up for sponsorship. They're the right company for the overhaul, in my mind.
When was the last time you saw a Fujifilm or Konica or Minolta product advertised? 20, maybe closer to 30 years ago? None of those entities are sponsoring a theme park attraction, even together.

all the more reason why they should.
They don't have anything to sell to the average EPCOT visitor. Even most big consumer-focused companies aren't interested in sponsoring Disney rides anymore, they're expensive marketing pieces in an era where there's cheaper, more direct, and more impactful marketing solutions. It's a miracle Kodak lasted at Imagination as long as they did. Disney knows they're going to foot 100% of the bill whenever something happens to Imagination.

Film is essentially a niche in a niche of handheld cameras. A handheld camera is never sponsoring a Disney ride ever again.

Why should I buy a handheld camera when I have the Google Pixel 8a that gets photos as good as that?

A sponsor for the imagination pavilion is also how we got into this mess we have with the current ride.

To be fair, a quality digital camera will generally outperform (and sometimes significantly) even the best phone camera, but phone cameras are good enough that the average person doesn't need anything more.

Regardless, Kodak etc. certainly aren't going to sponsor a theme park ride.

Not really, the ride is still mocking the fans through portraying Figment as a nuisance that constantly “makes a mess of the institute” who “finally shows” Dr. Channing (the imagineers and management behind the change to begin with) that he ‘does’ have an imagination.. he just has to “turn his thinking upside down”, like the “upside down thinking Friends of Figment in “Figment’s Open House” who “put him on blast” at the end… (*facepalm*… just UGH.. GAG me. It’s SO insultingly bad, just incase you didn’t already get the smell of skunk fart out of your mind from the scene prior to that)
But by the end of the ride Channing is shown to be wrong and figment is shown to be right

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't it Disney's idea to revamp Imagination? Kodak said they didn't want to for budget reasons (not being able to fund a revamp), but Disney basically forced them with the contract and so they made a very poor budget rework.
From what I hear both wanted to. JII was a costly ride to operate in a time where both Disney and Kodak were financially struggling. Which was why kodak agreed to renovate the ride instead of renewing the 15 year contract, however could only provide some of the budget due to their financial situation.

One must wonder if Journey Into YOUR Imagination would've been quite as catastrophically awful if the budget was really high. It might've been worse, actually, since they'd have more time to waste your time.

no joke, that is an interesting question and I would be all up for answering it

Perhaps start it in the Imagineer neck of these woods?
I'm not great at that, unfortunately. I have some ideas for Dragon Land (Dragon Tales section of a PBS park), but nothing else. Dragon Tales is the only PBS show i'm super familiar with.

Let's get back on topic. If the Dreamfinder returns with a fourth iteration, do you think Dreamfinder and Figment meet-and-greets are possible?

I don’t see the current Figzilla costume going anywhere. They spent too much $$ on it.

Dreamfinder might return to M&Gs

Is it really Figzilla compared to the 2002-2008 Figment costume? That one was freakin' massive.
