Rumor Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

Yet that seems to be why they’ve been upgrading hydraulic powered AA figures to updated electric motor powered ones for that very reason. Why not simply do the same for whatever system was running the turntable, especially if the infrastructure is still there behind the base boards/temporary hollow walls and floors placed above it?? All the more reason to simply go and update it. On top of upgrading the computers/software used to run the ride itself, To ‘lessen’ the amount of maintenance needed on it back in the day aswell as currently since ‘99/‘02.
It's still there as in "it exists but is locked and concreted in place". If they can't get the money to do a proper refurb, you can be assured the turntable is not ever going to move again.

I don't see why they couldn't gut the remains of the turntable and simply build a new one in its place. The walls and 40ish% of the track are there unless it was built before the building was fully enclosed during original construction.

If not that, then maybe gut the entire turntable part of the building and split it into different show scenes.

@marni1971 would know better, but it's my understanding that breaking the original ensured there will never be another there because of some kind of structural reason. It sounds feasible, but I seem to recall there being something precluding it.

Yeah, Figment is staying no matter what happens to the ride in some sort of role. He's already the King of EPCOT, but he would just become the God of EPCOT at that point lol. He already has all of this mind you, the ride just helps boost his case.

Figment is safe, any retheming attempts have been swatted down.
Thank goodness.

I don't know why I was surprised to find out that they apparently considered putting Soul in the Imagination pavilion, considering Iger's DIsney wants to put Coco in Animal Kingdom. Do I even want to know what other IPs (aside from Inside Out and the Muppets) were considered before they decided not to get rid of Figment? Tell me, did someone suggest putting Zootopia in there too at one point?

Resurrecting the original ride is significantly easier said than done, they did a lot of damage with JIYI. You can't put the turntable back, you'd have to do some insane crafty thing like making five dream mobiles that move on their own around and around in circles. The rest? Yeah, it could theoretically be redone, but the turntable is a huge hurdle.
It's not like this is a multi-billion dollar company or anything.

I am still baffled that Inside Out has not taken over WOL. It's such an obvious fit and I am traditionally anti-IP in EPCOT.

I’d love to see a new and improved cranium command based on inside out where we help the emotions control Riley from inside her head for a day. Seems like it could be a no ‘brainer’ (pun pun pun)
And the Nautilus!
I think a new imagination could be a thesis of all things Epcot and Disney. They could make it a Disney multiverse of sorts with all of these winks and nods from Disney’s past coming and going as Dreamfinder and Figment ‘imagine’ them just like the imagineers did

I heard Soul, Inside Out and Muppets were considered within the last ten years (obviously Soul is more recent). Phineas & Ferb were considered for a Lil something also.

Yeah that all seems to corroborate with what others have claimed in the past, I gotta say I’m most thankful Phineas & Ferb never came to fruition. I can imagine it would’ve dated itself pretty badly by this point if it had. To me hearing Soul was considered is almost no surprise. I actually remember being a little worried that they’d try to shoehorn it in around the time it came out. I could see Disney wanting to use Moonwind as an obscure nod to Dreamfinder

As far as other ideas for "Let's cram some Epcot throwbacks into Imagination 4" go, they'd never go for it, but I've always felt the Dreamseekers from Tapestry of Dreams could fit into JII's world since they were basically created as a collective "Discount Dreamfinder" anyways.

I think P&F could have worked when the show was running, but as you said, it would have dated itself pretty hard. Sadly though that probably wouldn't have stopped Disney from letting it stagnate even in that form.

From what I’ve seen down there, I don’t see a reason why everything can’t be removed from the “pit” leaving just the foundations. The original will never work again though !

OK that makes sense. Construction photos show the show building being constructed around/over the turntable so a redo would most likely involve at least taking the roof/image works off.

Or, to put it simply, the turntable is epcot's version of the everest yeti.

Would we realistically hear anything about this at D23? I remember last time when they built up imagination all presentation to announce…the meet and greet. Which is cool, but I felt so betrayed. Probably the worst D23 memory for me.

If it was, there'd be a door in the back to remove the turntable during 3rd shift just like the Yeti.

They're doing more episodes of the show, plus the movies are fairly popular. P&F is hardcore Gen Z nostalgia, so I feel like it could work somewhere and be popular with a large audience.

Honestly? Put them in Magic Eye. That's probably the IP I would most want to see put in there.
