Here are my two Figment mugs from 1982 that I might part with for the right price.

This is the Figment plush I have. He's still got his shirt with the velcro closing on the back and BOTH his little wings. (What did you do to yours, Merf?? ) I got him on most likely my first trip to WDW back in 1984.

I have the mug on the right. I think the original one I got (again, probably from the same first trip around 84) is in my mom's hutch. But I bought another of it last year on ebay. I use it regularly for my tea. The bottom says, "Made Exclusively for Epcot Center JAPAN" and has the Epcot Center world logo as well.

I've always loved Figment. And Imagination holds pretty much the single best memories for me of my first Disney experience.

People on eBay put the "original" thing in their auctions either because they want to intentionally mislead people, or because they don't know when it actually came out, and they see the 'copyright 1982' on the tag, and assume it came out when the park opened. This is not the case. The concept of Figment has a copyright of 1982, not each specific piece of merchandise.

As for the doll, I look forward to seeing pictures of yours. My only question--does his shirt say "Figment" on it? If so, you truly have a rarity. Few plushes from that period (I can't say I've ever seen one), have the Figment text across his chest and the plastic eyes. Get someone to take a picture of it while you're at Epcot on the 1st and have them post it! I'm really curious to see it!

Totally agree regarding eBay "mistakes".....honestly though i think many just misinterupt the copyright and assume that is when the doll came out ( which in most cases is true....except Disney! LOL!)

I am sure i will be photographed more then once with my doll at the EPCOT 25th Event.....he will definately be there! Yes, his sweatshirt has the same red ironed-on round lettering as was shown in the pic i posted previously as an example close to what my Fig doll looks like. I can't wait until October 1st!!!

:)

I had this Figment! Sadly, it was destroyed in my parents' basement after a freak October Storm here caused basement flooding and ruined tons of old stuff.

This small figurine I got in either '88 or '90 was rescued, though:

I also had a t-shirt I bought on my high school band trip in '96, it had Figment with a big foot or something over him on the back and said, "Honey, I shrunk Figment," or something like that. I remember a girl in my English class who sat behind me that year wrote something in my yearbook about how she loved my Figment shirt!

Gosh, I forgot all about that shirt until this thread...wonder whatever happened to it? That was a neat shirt!

I was reading one of the posts about the $300 giant figment and I was wondering if anyone knows where to buy one or if it is even possible to find one. Thanks.

I believe the owner of www.figmentsimagination.com has one. Doubt he's willing to part with it, though.

In the two plus years I've been running daily searches on eBay, I have never seen one.

(It was about time to revive this thread!)

Does any have/has anyone seen the shirt with Figment dressed as Indiana Jones? Someone on the forums said they used to have one, but I've never seen the shirt. I would sure like to see it!

they should make a movie with him in it...like now

anything

give him some more popularity

I think one of the big appeals of Figment is that he is a uniquely WDW character. While a movie would be cool, it would destroy that appeal.

There are always the Disney educational movies from the 80s/90s, if you want Figgy on film!

I'm still working on creating an updated website for the photos that I took last summer. One day I will actually finish! Of course, it's taken me so long that now *those* photos are outdated as well.

Yeah, I can't wait to see this updated "Shrine". Even as I keep building my collection, there are a lot of things I'll probably never have because they rarely appear on eBay, and when they do, other collectors are willing to shell out a lot more than me. I just wish I could've purchased all this stuff when it was first available--and much cheaper!

Haha - I'm right with you! I never really bought that much Figgy stuff when I was younger, and boy am I kicking myself now!

C'mon...no one else has any Figment merchandise they want to share?
I just wanted to share what I came across at my church flea market this morning. I remembered this thread (I loved looking at all of your stuff!) and thought you'd enjoy this. I haven't polished it yet---I was too excited to post it. I paid a whooping .25 cents for this. Yes....just a quarter....lol.

A close up of the spoon part

The middle of it had figment wrapped around it

and the old epcot logo was the top

The back says C 1982 Walt Disney Productions. But I now know that anything with Figment on it says 1982, so I don't really know when this was made. I still love it and can't wait to display it in my Disney shrine....
Enjoy!

I'll double your money and give you 50 cents for it! :D :king:

Great find, though!

I am so stoked because my "newest" Figment plush just arrived. As far as I know, it's the rarest plush, and I got it for only $11.98 shipped. It may look like the common Figgy plush of the era (that some unsavvy eBayers think is worth a lot and try to list it for like $50-100...I always giggle to myself because I see them fail to sell for $.99), but the difference is that this Figgy is slightly larger, has "Figment" on his shirt, has "Walt Disney Characters" on the tag (instead of "Figment" or DL/WDW), and has plastic eyes instead of felt eyes. I believe it's the only version that was made in the USA, and is the largest one available in 1982 (yes, this one actually IS from 1982!). Maybe later I will take pictures of it.

I'm so glad the Figment vultures on eBay that have seemingly disposable incomes didn't look carefully at the listing, because I did not want to get in a bidding war over this guy (I was prepared to go high...but they are in a totally different league than me).

Here it is:

WOW-Nice find.My aunt actually has that one as part of her collection. The spoon is amazing too.I've never seen it before.

I got into a bidding war over the 25th Anniversary Figment...I had lost on the item about 10 times and wasn't going to loose!Lucky for me the Figgy started at a doller and worked his way up slowly to about 35.I probally won him with a tenth of a second!:sohappy:

I'll have to update you with my collection.

I have the other version of Figment you described. He doesn't have Figment written on his shirt, felt eyes and the tag says Figment with Walt Disney World below that. I have been trying to figure out how old he is for awhile now do you have any idea? My parents can't remember when we got him all they can remember is me crying and yelling for him until they went back and got him for me. :D

If he's about 10" tall, I believe he's from around 1984-1990. (This version was out for about five years). Although I'm not really sure, so don't take my word for the gospel.

Yeah he is about 10" tall and that time frame would fit into the time when I wouldn't remember. Thanks for the answer!! :)

Ok, here's my actual Figment plush from when I was a kid. Most likely, I got him around my first visit which would have been in 1984. I have no idea how many versions of him there are but this is my favorite of the ones I've seen pics of online. (Though of course, I might be biased.) But really, it seems the best quality. His little shirt comes off and his nose is much better defined in the older ones like this I think.

And here's his tag for anyone interested:

I find it terribly interesting that they had the "Disneyland/Walt Disney World" tag on a Figment plush which never existed in DL and that they did the both parks labeling that far back.

Anyway, just thought I'd show off the actual plush himself since I saw the thread and thought it was time to include mine. :D
